Which way do I go? 🔎 The meaning behind Yogi's words may surprise you. I sourced the story behind today's "Yogi-ism" from the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center website. "While giving directions to his best friend Joe Garagiola to his house in Montclair, Yogi told Joe to take the fork. The fork was unique in that no matter which direction you chose, you would end up at Yogi and Carmen's house." Interesting, right!? In Yogi’s case, no matter the choice, you achieved the same result. We're rarely afforded that luxury. There's more to the story! Yogi was a risk-taker and wasn't afraid to take a fork in the road. Even though he couldn't always see what was ahead, he recognized opportunities would be available. The path forward is rarely a straight line. There's more than one way to get from point A to point B. A fork in the road is a gateway to action, not habit. "People who deliberate fully before taking a step will spend their lives on one foot." ~Chinese Proverb~ Consider the possibilities. ON POINT: DEBATE ANALYSIS —  Any formal debate will have its defining wraparound, that which remains emblematic of the debate’s entirety, a full view always available for the event’s myriad audiences. As regards the Sept. 10, 2024, Donald J. Trump/Kamala Harris debate, that wraparound is unquestionably this: Trump is indeed a “LUNATIC,” and Kamala Harris is unquestionably “SANE.” From Trump was what many unbalanced persons do, they spew a sequence of lies moment after moment. Fact-checkers had trouble keeping up with Trump, he attacked the truth like a runner trying to win a marathon race cheating, each foot’s landing a lie. The whoppers that Trump delivered included that he’d created the best pre-Covid U.S. economy ever, when that which was superbly grand about the U.S. Economy then was the result of policy actions enacted by George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Another whopper was that he alone forced the NATO-European countries to commit more of their financial assets to greater NATO when those nations had already committed to do that while Obama was U.S. President. And, while this intensified B.S.-ing condition that has been defining Trump ever since he chose to have the American citizenry believe he was still U.S. President after proven, time and again, that Joe Biden had won the Nov. 2020 election, there’s appeared evidence that there really is in Trump’s brain a Trump-world that Trump keeps drifting in and out of and back in again. Trump’s choice to keep on lying that he was still the real U.S. President was “Nuts.” For that, and for an insurrection that he inspired, Trump was impeached, and he still plays the role of the victim of a weaponization of governance, a weaponization that he has told the American public he intends to establish should he return to the White House (This duality, i.e., hypocrisy, is as if there are in Trump’s mind two horses that keep running in opposite directions simultaneously—, there’s something obviously wrong with that.). BUT—Kamala Harris chose during the Sept. 10, 2024 debate to treat Trump as if he was sane enough to listen to her expose the craziness of his behavior patterns and also the idiocy of his plans for another MAGA that could not possibly MAGA. In plainer words, she made it quite clear that Trump is unfit for WH and global leadership, next describing her principles and policies for an America that is already great and could do much more for itself and for “All” Americans. . .  mlR

At its heart, journalism has always been about uncovering truths, amplifying voices, and holding those in power accountable. But the way we tell those stories? That’s been changing and fast. It’s no longer just about getting grammar perfect or imagining a journalist with a pen and a paper cranking out stories. Today’s journalism is shaped by technology, social media platforms, and how audiences consume news. It’s evolved into something far more dynamic and visual. Think about the stories you’ve seen recently. Chances are, they weren’t just words on a page. Maybe it was a beautifully designed data visualization, a gripping podcast, or a vertical video that pulled you in. Perhaps it was stunning drone footage or an interactive feature that let you explore the details yourself. These aren’t just extras. They are the new tools of the trade, revolutionizing how we share and experience the news. That said, the written word isn’t going anywhere. Sometimes, a well-crafted article is still the best way to break down complex issues, deliver quick updates, or tell a powerful story. But here’s the thing: journalism isn’t just about what works best for us as creators. It’s about what resonates with audiences. Look at your own habits. How do you consume news? Maybe you scroll through social media, stop at visuals that catch your eye, or plug into podcasts during your commute. It’s different than it was a decade ago, and that’s why journalists need to adapt. Meeting people where they are, while staying true to the mission of truth-telling, is the real challenge. The future of journalism is about staying curious, being creative, and always putting integrity first. So, here’s something to think about: how can you, as a journalist, make the news more engaging and impactful? How can you create stories that not only inform but also connect with people on a deeper level? The answers to those questions might just shape the next big chapter in journalism and you can be part of it. Why the photo? No connection. It’s just one of my purposes when I climbed the Philippines’ highest peak, Mount Apo. It felt great finding the newly-discovered endemic tropical blueberries.

Back to working with these 2 very talented and highly potential Voice Over guys Laurence Fridal and Morgan Andrew Evans After a weeks rest down in Florida. Laurence, New York City based, Bronx, Morgan on the West Coast based in Portland. Before I begin working with any Voice actor on one ☝️ on one VO zoom sessions. Before we get into the teaching journey, demo making, read work outs, it’s a personal conversation 1st. To get to know each other, and this pivotal question … “So you Want to get in Voice - Over work?” And we talk about the current state of the VO industry, we talk about yesterday as well, all of it. We address the challenges, the expectations, the realities, everything. The last thing I wanna see or hear is, but, but you never said that …😵‍💫 This industry is NOT for the non-worker, wishful overnight success fantasyland thinker, the lazy inconsistent, give me instant gratification dreamer 😳 I wish it were that simple for you. It’s not simple for anyone who entrenches as a Voice Actor. It wasn’t simple for ME, and I made it to the Mount Everest summit in the chilling 59 below chilling degrees, frozen 🥶 snow, with ice crystals hanging from my earlobes and frost bite on my fingers after maxing 2 Union SAG-AFTRA VO pensions, yea I staked it at the top purely exhausted from a lifetime in this 😵‍💫😫😳🤔😜😡😎🤪😀🤣and it gave me everything , the good, bad and purely pain in the ass some days. I have made a living here my whole professional life, raising 5 kids on this, and it has been only a steady focus since studying radio/ broadcasting at The University of Florida, Gainesville. And I remember every 5 year period like it happened last minute. The struggles, rejection, the time waiting, the nights starring at the ceiling, wondering, “Will I ever get a radio gig” “will one of these creative directors or ad agency producers hire me for a freelance VO gig” the constant push, phone calls, playing demos, being on the outside, 😫looking in, from what seemed like 10,000 miles. But if you love ❤️ anything enough, you fight like a residual mailbox chasing VO warrior, never quitting, while the rejection stacks to your ceiling heights as your being told NO over n over n over n over n over. Then one ☝️ day, like a miracle, an answered prayer, 🙏 a door swings, finally a crack in the “I told you NO” pavement weakens, your in 😜🙂 this happens, than that, the exhilarating chill that you made it here, lasts a lifetime. Its the ultimate gift 🎁, if you can get to the Mountain 🏔️ tops. Now go ahead, make fun of the grammatical errors, the poor sentence fragments, whatever jams you up, while I pluck residual checks from the mailbox 📪 and hoping and praying YOU get the same experience in your VO career because in the end, it’s all that mattered to me here, sure I love VO, but not enough to NOT get paid, raising 5 kids isn’t a joke, they always wake up wanting to eat. 😵‍💫🤣🤣 Dm me with questions. #vo

Hop on a One ☝️ on one VO zoom session, work out on your reads, make a VO demo, if it makes sense, figure out your position, get insight on the best way to navigate the complex industry of VO, is a Union scale VO career even pliable for you? Or does the Non Union route make more sense. Should I pay VO managers 😳a monthly retainer to rep me? VO Agents in LA and NY, are they enough to build a sustainable fulltime paying, benefit filled Union scale VO career like they did for me and many others? And if it’s still possible, what’s your path to joining the Union? And is it worth your energy to go that route. The VO industry today isn’t the VO industry of 2000, or 2010 or even 2020 when Covid shut down, pretty much live in person auditioning for good. Pay to play sites like Voices or Voices 123 or Fivver or several others you see pass through your phone. Some VO folks run sponsored ads saying this “I can show you the tricks on how to book a lot of VO work on this pay to play just take my course” 😳 There are so many corridors with this, it’ll make you 😵‍💫 dizzy, but we’ll cover all of it, and you’ll leave the session educated, re-charged, and able to make the right choices regarding your VO agenda. Make sense of it all, while getting some work in without the deep pocket commitment. Dm to schedule. VO zoom calls are one ☝️ on one so the focus is on YOU. They go about 1.5 to 2 hours, and you’ll leave the session a better Voice Actor, more prepared, definitely informed and possibly realizing #1 Yes I want to make the needed infrastructure investment and do this #2 This freelance talent VO career option is YES 🙌 something I’m going to continue with, let’s make a commercial VO demo or work on my reads Or #3 This VO is not a good fit for me. I’m 🏃 running for the hills 🤪 Do not anticipate that VO is an easy to entry System. And that it’s a quick supplemental money grab or a possible fulltime career option. This not like getting Nursing credentials getting a job at a hospital and steady weekly paychecks start flowing, 😳😵‍💫😵‍💫 Voice Over takes a long time to start booking work and the steady income streams with this could take years or perhaps things can move quicker, it’s a career model that is as random as it gets. But if you are meant for this, training with me will enhance your talent position in the market, that is definite. #VOTraining #VOcoaching
