Why is great talent so often misunderstood? https://bit.ly/45aUIH8

Exactly! People and brands crave change but are simultaneously afraid of it. We don't support innovative culture - but love talking about its importance. And the exact problem that radio keeps trying to overcome is the exact problem it reinforces in its fear of change. Great article.👏
Story of our life lol great read

1yLike all your columns, this one is thought-provoking in the best ways.I do take exception with these two being classified as "misunderstood", as I think it unnecessarily attaches to martyrdom. Sinead knew exactly what she was doing when she ripped up the Pope's photo - but her audience in America did not. She discussed this in interviews later on. Had she said "The Catholic Church is hiding priest abuse of kids - in Ireland and maybe all over" who knows how things could have gone. Still she insisted she never wanted to be a pop star, only a singer. She suffered from bipolar disorder, public shaming and the evils of record executives did not end her life. Did her son's suicide? Maybe. Those interested ought to read her book. Pee-Wee's tv show was a hit on Saturday morning, that took on a mythology of some kind - still a cult fave. His first movie was a bona fide smash, while his second, Big Top Pee-Wee lost five million dollars. The bloom was already off the rose before his arrest. His uneven output in subsequent years showed resilience and a wide range - talent. Misunderstood? Masturbating in a movie theatre was a bad decision, but it was hardly a bold statement by an artist searching for justice.
