Hop on a One ☝️ on one VO zoom session, work out on your reads, make a VO demo, if it makes sense, figure out your position, get insight on the best way to navigate the complex industry of VO, is a Union scale VO career even pliable for you? Or does the Non Union route make more sense. Should I pay VO managers 😳a monthly retainer to rep me? VO Agents in LA and NY, are they enough to build a sustainable fulltime paying, benefit filled Union scale VO career like they did for me and many others? And if it’s still possible, what’s your path to joining the Union? And is it worth your energy to go that route. The VO industry today isn’t the VO industry of 2000, or 2010 or even 2020 when Covid shut down, pretty much live in person auditioning for good. Pay to play sites like Voices or Voices 123 or Fivver or several others you see pass through your phone. Some VO folks run sponsored ads saying this “I can show you the tricks on how to book a lot of VO work on this pay to play just take my course” 😳 There are so many corridors with this, it’ll make you 😵💫 dizzy, but we’ll cover all of it, and you’ll leave the session educated, re-charged, and able to make the right choices regarding your VO agenda. Make sense of it all, while getting some work in without the deep pocket commitment. Dm to schedule. VO zoom calls are one ☝️ on one so the focus is on YOU. They go about 1.5 to 2 hours, and you’ll leave the session a better Voice Actor, more prepared, definitely informed and possibly realizing #1 Yes I want to make the needed infrastructure investment and do this #2 This freelance talent VO career option is YES 🙌 something I’m going to continue with, let’s make a commercial VO demo or work on my reads Or #3 This VO is not a good fit for me. I’m 🏃 running for the hills 🤪 Do not anticipate that VO is an easy to entry System. And that it’s a quick supplemental money grab or a possible fulltime career option. This not like getting Nursing credentials getting a job at a hospital and steady weekly paychecks start flowing, 😳😵💫😵💫 Voice Over takes a long time to start booking work and the steady income streams with this could take years or perhaps things can move quicker, it’s a career model that is as random as it gets. But if you are meant for this, training with me will enhance your talent position in the market, that is definite. #VOTraining #VOcoaching

This section of our house, you would think, just a simple entry area to a home, access to a room, stairway , arched thingy stone dog house entrance to under the stair case. But these touches are anything but simple, just like your VO careeer, if you are to have one over many years, it will and SHOULD be anything but simple. Like this area - it will demand meticulously pre planned thought before you build. Where you wanna go, what’s realistic on my timeframes to reach certain points in my VO career. The stairway banister; so many choices in creating that look. Same with your VO career; what do I want my VO career to model, look 👀 like? A non union agenda, Union? Am I an audio book announcer, promo voice, radio imaging, commercial VO, politicals, industrials, news, on n on; am I doing all of this? All the materials, the stone, the lighting, the stair railings, the wood floors, all provided by varried suppliers, like VO access to catagories of VO work is a reflection of varried folks who represent those areas. You as a VO person need to reach these suppliers by way of agents, managers, direct by yourself, combination of all possibly. You see the comparisons. I work with VO people in all areas, in all experience levels, one ☝️ on one via Zoom VO sessions, NO group sessions, No 5 to 10 people at one time 😵💫not close to the focused attention you need in order to learn, build, get better, understand, improve, get informed, possibly to be positioned for a working future. Like this home entrance, your VO career needs to be modeled right. Dm for more #vo

🌍 Unemployment is a lifeline for many hardworking individuals who are missing paychecks through no fault of their own. While the program provides essential financial support (minimally), we can do a better job of helping people during their job search. For example, states could partner with tech companies to offer Premium licenses in tandem with the weeks individuals are eligible for unemployment benefits. Imagine if we could offer job seekers access to tools like these: - LinkedIn Premium to enhance visibility and networking during the search. - ZoomInfo to access hiring managers' contact details and bypass traditional barriers. - Canva Pro to help users design standout resumes and portfolios. - Grammarly Pro to refine resume and cover letter language with AI-driven improvements. These tools could make a world of difference in today’s competitive job market, where applicant tracking systems (ATS) are automatically filtering out thousands of resumes. 📢 What other resources could we offer to enable job seekers? Drop your suggestions in the comments! #JobSearch #Unemployment #ATS #LinkedInPremium #CareerSupport #ResumeHelp

We often get, “Oh so you’re a disability employment service or recruitment agency” . And with zero offence taken, “No we are not either” (as we really value what recruitment agencies like Signature Staff do, but it’s simply a different type of business). . Size: We work with 15 mentees at any given time- highly relational, we get to know people well. No large caseloads. . Outcome: Active, valued, meaningful work role in welcoming business for ‘one person at a time’. . Approach: We use Customised Employment and Social Role Valorisation principles with both the employee and business. We are alongside both parties before starting and during work. . . Here’s a bit about Customised Employment – What is it, and how does it work? Via a YouTube Explainer Video: https://lnkd.in/gQi9gXTi . . Keen to learn more and see how it might be relevant for your business/workplace?! . Let’s book a time for a coffee and chat: https://lnkd.in/e9VpWa-v . . 𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒚 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒇𝒇⁉️ I have seen loads of permanent adverts, and it got me thinking. Is there a genuine skill shortage in Local Authority, or is the sector overlooking hidden gems within their teams due to a lack of patience? Some permanent adverts unfortunately lack 👇 ❌ Detail ❌ Competitive Salary ❌ Market reach I have a random and highly unresearched example (bear with me on this one) 😂 ◼️ After quitting the band in 1995, Robbie Williams became one of the best UK-selling artists with roughly 75 million records worldwide 🔥 ◼️ Take That, led by Gary Barlow, although starting in 1990, they have sold around 13.6 million singles 💥 Let's say Robbie left because he couldn't share the frontman duties. Imagine if he stayed - who knows how much better they could have been? Over the years professionals have cited leaving their role because they have hit a metaphorical ceiling, and have gone on to flourish elsewhere. Instead of going straight out to advert, the authority could have considered: 🗣 Speaking to a aspiring post holder to decide whether they are ready for the next step, or at the very least put a plan in place to make sure they feel heard Or 🔍 Have a look at the wider service to discover anyone with transferable skills who could flourish in the role. I'm not saying every service has a Robbie Williams amongst them, or the above isn't happening, but I'd love to know how many authorities explore all options thoroughly before whacking an advert out. 👀 PS For full disclaimer I love Take That (see video below) ❤️ #permanentadverts #lookathiddengems

I'm intrigued by a common conundrum in the professional world: the insistence on ultra-specific skills in hiring (either employees or contractors), contrasted with the ability of larger companies to secure contracts and then upskill their teams or hire external contractors and freelancers. It raises the question: How do these companies manage to secure work in areas where they lack internal expertise? A silly example I was given today was, "you have basket weaving experience, but we want someone who has experience with basket weaving, in the Dead Sea, with wicker, at midnight. So we'll be going with someone else." And, invariably, that "someone else" is a bigger company who doesn't even know what a basket is. How does that even work? #ProfessionalInsights #SkillDevelopment #Upskilling

Update on me: After 6 months off, I'm starting to look for work again. So far I have one 6-interview loop already completed for a VR-related company that would be ideal for me, so maybe I'll get an offer or a rejection this week or next. A bunch of companies close to home ghosted me after I sent off applications, which was dissappointing, but not entirely unexpected. I have a few more introduction interviews and probably a few resumes to send this week. An online friend who happens to be both a computer professional and a farmer did some brainstorming with me, and we are starting work on an interesting one-off web service which they think has the potential to make millions of dollars in passive income. So I'm rolling the dice on that as well. At home, my older son is starting to send applications out to colleges. If you do this early enough, a bunch waive their fees. We are teaching our younger son to drive. We have 2 more vacations between now and January: a West coast drive from San Francisco to Vancouver to see colleges, and a week of snorkeling in Belize. My main time sink the last 3 months has been learning and practicing acoustic guitar.
