A great article by Harvard Business Review which aligns closely with a large scale study recently completed by the good folks over here at O-NUS. The average Chief Revenue Officer now lasts only two years (or less), and 70% of the time, they are asked to leave by their employer. This is part of the broader Sales Mediocrity Industrial Complex. Last week the CareerXroads team got to do one of the things we like best: facilitate a few days of conversations and learning with our Community. I know, I have become a bit of a Larry Culp and GE fan. Larry is unashamedly waving the lean transformation flag and re-educating a whole new group of investors in the positive effects of a clear strategy with purpose, honesty, humility, focus and commitment. Here is a clip from GE's investor day last month where he and his colleagues explained their new lean operating system "flight deck" to investors. Compare this consistent, purposeful, methodical approach to delivering a transformational change across an organisation to the financial engineering approach used by others in the same sector.
