Radical Candor: "If you want to know how a company makes it all the way to market with such an out-of-touch, poorly performing product, the Times interviewed "23 current and former employees, advisers and investors," and their anecdotes shed a lot of light on how this can happen. The two founders apparently "preferred positivity over criticism, leading them to disregard warnings about the AI Pin’s poor battery life and power consumption. A senior software engineer was dismissed after raising questions about the product, they said, while others left out of frustration." After that software engineer was fired for questioning if the AI pin would be ready for launch, the report describes a staff meeting where the founders "said the employee had violated policy by talking negatively about Humane." It's hard to make a good product if you can't honestly talk about the negatives and positives for fear of retaliation. The outside world is not subject to the founders' preferences for "positivity," though. After apparently not being interested in honest employee feedback during development, once the product launched, Bongiorno called the team together and said the company would have to "lean into painful feedback" and called the reviews “a gift that we’ve been given.” The problem with this thinking is that, at this point, the product had launched and received the most attention it would ever get, and nearly all of that was negative. Maybe part of the issue is that the company didn't have a head of marketing until after launch, despite employees "repeatedly asking" for the role to be filled."

Exciting news from Arbe (#nasdaq: ARBE), an MS-IR LLC client, announcing the company’s tier-1, Sensrad , has signed an agreement with Tianyi Transportation Technology to supply 4D imaging radars powered by Arbe's advanced chipset. Valued at an estimated 7 million euros, this collaboration will advance vehicle-road-cloud integration across China, with deliveries starting as early as the third quarter of 2024. "Congratulations to Sensrad on this significant achievement,” said Kobi Marenko, CEO of Arbe. “This agreement is a clear demonstration of the market’s recognition of the superior performance and reliability of Arbe’s 4D imaging radar technology. The growing opportunities in China reinforce our vision to transform perception capabilities globally. In a recent interview with EMSNOW , Oshri Cohen, the CEO of Cybord, talked about the company's AI-based solution for identifying non-conforming electronic components during product assembly. Oshri emphasized the increasing use of AI in the EMS industry and the growing awareness of material quality issues. He also addressed the challenges of traceability and the importance of enforcing approved vendor lists (AVL) and country of origin restrictions in real-time. ARM is planning to spin off a division focused on AI. This strategic move could allow ARM (Already dominant in the AI market especially on the edge) to leverage its corporate valuation of Arm cores in the AI segment. Interestingly, the hardware design blocks used in the development of AI chips are the same as those used in microcontrollers and microprocessors, but optimized for AI, especially on the edge.
