𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐈 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 $640𝐌 Mistral AI, the Paris-based startup started by former Meta and Google DeepMind employees, has raised $640 million in its Series B funding round. This round was led by General Catalyst and includes $503 million in equity and $142 million in debt, raising the company's valuation to $6 billion just one year after it was founded. Mistral AI previously raised $113 million in a large seed round and is now ready to compete with major players like OpenAI and Anthropic. The company has already released several open-source AI models, such as Mistral 7B, Mistral 8x7B, and Mistral 8x22B, which are available for free use with proper credit. With this new funding, Mistral AI plans to increase its computing power and team size, speeding up its efforts to bring its products to market globally. The company’s proprietary models, like Mistral Large, are offered through paid APIs, while its generative AI model for code, Codestral, is restricted to non-commercial use only. Investors in the Series B round include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Nvidia, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, and Salesforce Ventures, among others. This new investment brings Mistral AI’s total funding to over $1 billion. Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, shared his excitement about the new funding, noting that it will help keep the company independent and push forward with developing advanced AI technology. With the AI market expected to grow to $1.3 trillion in the next decade, Mistral AI's recent funding shows the increasing interest and confidence in this field. It will be interesting to see how Mistral uses this investment to further develop its AI technology and expand its reach. #MistralAI #ArtificialIntelligence #FundingNews #TechStartups #Innovation #AI #VentureCapital #Technology #AIModels #StartupFunding
