Animating with Cascadeur: Physics-based animation software is pretty wild. That’s 8 keyframes there. The one on the right is my first rough animation “Keyframe prompt” and the green dude on the left is the interpretation.

🔥 Have you tried making a Photoscan Material and got some unwanted lighting in your Base Color? 🎇 This is the tool you need in Substance Designer, Luminance Highpass node. It Cancels out lighting information by performing a highpass on the input's Luminance value. Useful for fixing photographed textures with lighting information. Maya Attribute Options tool.! Newest addition to my personal tool set. Took me a few days to write it on and off. Another great resource for level design and #gameart is Dimensions.com. It’s a database with common measurements and construction terminology used for everyday objects, buildings, trees, etc. A goldmine of information!

🔥 Substance Designer Quick-Tip: If you were looking for a way to make a procedural tilling wall, where you mix two different Patterns this is how you can do it: 🥇 Create 2 Tile Generators with a scale of 1, and a Random Value in Interstice x. Set the node to Max Mode and the Luminance Random to 0.5. Be sure each of them has different values in their X/Y. 🥈 Use a Blend node in Copy mode to mix these two patterns. Use a shape node connected to a Transform node which is set to "Not Tilling", and place the middle circle in the Lower edge of the image frame. Happy Wednesday all! Today I want to talk about hiccups setbacks and what to do when a troll enters the dungeon! Today as I was prepping an exciting review meeting with my technical artist on all the amazing VFX applicants I logged in and saw nothing. All gone! Poof! Not sure what happened possibly a glitch in the matrix or what not but plans had changed for the entire day and rest of the week in a flash. All I could do was to try and get things moving forward again. Can’t get mad about a setback no time! So I hopped on here sent the SOS to all the amazing individuals interested in the VFX role and stated the facts. -emails gone -review delayed -follow ups complicated And now it’s on to being a bit humble and asking for support. Anyone interested in the SENIOR VFX ROLE please reapply 🧡. Mistakes happen and hiccups and delays are all part of the startup life. It’s important to remind oneself to be professional under the hardest of times but also keep the larger picture in mind. This may have flipped my week upside down but it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the weeks, months, years ahead. Much love everyone!

🔥This is how I create realistic materials in substance designer! 🚀 I split details in different areas of my materials. 🚀 I mask every noise and grunge I add to my graph. 🚀 I layer details based on color and surface erosion. 🚀 I always double-check by making stage renders. 🚀 I ask for feedback from someone with more experience. 💡 These are the 5 rules that helped me maintain quality in my artwork to create realistic materials. All of this came out of all the mistakes I made, this mistakes are opportunities to make a decision which will result in a learning experience! "It is not the mistake that teaches us, is what we choose to do after it that does it." 🤗 Learning Substance Designer is hard, learning how to do good art is harder, but learning to overcome ourselves to achieve our goals is the hardest task you will have to overcome. 💞 That is the main reason I share this stuff to help you when I had no one to help me. If you need help to overcome yourself, learn to control Substance Designer, and become a Material Artist I can give you a hand. I created a community full of artists to learn everything I mentioned. Are you struggling to get your fist job as animator in the industry? You send 100 plus application and not even a single interview? Been looking for a job for more than a year and you are demoralize because the industry is in a bad place? Listen here: -when i was 19 i study 2d animation for 3 years, after I graduate i could not get a job because objectively i was not good enough and 2d was getting replace by 3d - I then decide to learn 3d by my self because I had no more money to study with a school -I had to learn 3dsmax with a book because..well youtube didn`t exist yet -after 2 years of learning modeling, texture and rig i start to get some very small job as generalist that pay peanuts - I had to do other jobs not related to animation to get extra income -after 3 years of study by myself I enrolled to Animaiton Mentor -after 18 months i finish the school, send 80 plus email and no job because once again i was not good enough -got a private mentor to study 6-9 months and get a better reel, (all of this while still working a bit as non animator) and only after that I manage to get a job in my first AAA project was I the only exception? absolutely not. a lot of people struggle like me some give up, some persevere, some get a job sooner bottom line I think took me overall more than 6 years to get into the industry, plenty of mistake. is not easy now, it wasn't easy 15 years ago, yes times are different obviously, now you have a lot more resource, far more company making games or movie, more easy to connect.. but then a lot more competitions be an artist is hard, especially at the very beginning, my first teacher told me that. 🚀 Sci-Fi Detailing: Trim Sheets & Decals 🛸 Continuing with my sci-fi environment series, here’s a look at how I added intricate details to my Unreal Engine scene! 💡 After refining the mesh, I created a trim sheet model in Maya, finalizing the details before baking them into normal maps, ID, and occlusion. With the UVs set, I then used decals to bring extra detail to life, even repurposing the trim sheet textures for the decals. I’m passionate about building immersive, sci-fi worlds and am always inspired by the incredible work of studios like Frontier Developments Foundry 42 Ltd and Wargaming . So I went all in with the model of Winchester and created a rig in Control Rig, animated the model in Unreal, rendered in Unreal..everything in Unreal. I have created a small Blueprint for the rifle to have more control in the Unreal sequencer.
