FTP Server Installation on Redhat ~Step 1: Installing VSFTPD Launch the Terminal in your Debian OS by going into the Activities tab on the top left corner for your desktop. Then in the search bar, type terminal. When the Terminal icon appears, click on it to launch it. * Then in the Terminal, the following command to update the repositories. cmd: $ yum install update * Then execute the below command in Terminal to install VSFTPD package cmd: $yum install vsftpd * nce the installation is completed, you can check the version of VSFTPD package by running the following command in Terminal cmd: $ vsftpd -versions ~Step 2: Enable and start VSFTPD service VSFTPD service does not start automatically upon the installation. * To start VSFTPD service, run the following command in Terminal cmd: $ systemctl start vsftpd * To enable vsftpd service to always start at the boot time, run the following command in Terminal cmd: $ systemctl enable vsftpd VSFTPD Configuration ~Step 1: Allow ports in Firewall * If you are running firewall, then allow ports 20 and 21 for FTP using the following commands cmd: $ firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=21/tcp cmd: $ firewall-cmd --permanent --add-port=20/tcp * Once done, confirm it by checking the status of the firewall using the following command cmd: $ firewall-cmd --list-ports ~Step 2: Configuring FTP Access * Before making any changes to the VSFTPD configuration file, make sure to back up the original vsftpd.config file. Anyway, Insider attacks originate from individuals with authorized access to an organization’s systems, personnel, and networks and can be intentional or unintentional. These attacks are particularly dangerous because they come from within, bypassing external defenses. Here are the four main types: 🎯 The Oblivious Insider An unsuspecting employee who unintentionally exposes the organization to risk due to lack of awareness. Often falls victim to phishing scams or makes security errors, causing significant harm despite harmless intentions. 🎯 The Negligent Insider Ignores security protocols or bypasses policies out of convenience, overconfidence, or disregard for rules. May leave systems unsecured or share sensitive information through unencrypted channels, unknowingly creating vulnerabilities. 🎯 The Malicious Insider Exploits their access to steal data, disrupt operations, or inflict damage driven by personal grievances or financial gain. Their actions are intentional to harm the organization. 🎯 The Professional Insider Recruited by a competitor or foreign entity, they gather and leak intellectual property or confidential information.
