Podcast advertising is finally reaching its full potential as a truly attributable and digital-style channel… Specifically when it comes to measurement. While podcast listening itself remains offline and decentralized, advancements in technology—like pixel-based attribution—are changing the game. Do your products perform double-duty for your subscription business? What I mean is – content products need to provide value on their own, but are you also thinking about how to craft them so that they simultaneously deepen your long-term relationship with your audiences? This is the question I’ve been tackling lately, having just completed our org’s first-ever product audit. And it’s a question central to anyone who wants to run a sustainable media business.  If you produce content products for a recurring-revenue business, you should be asking these three questions about them: ♻️ Engagement: Do they encourage repeat visits? Bringing people to your site once is great, but how do your products build habit?  🙋🏻‍♀️ Audience segmentation: Are your products tailored to specific audience personas? Can you tell me who exactly they serve and how? In today’s fragmented media world, everything can’t be for everyone. ⏬ Funnel building: Where on your subscription funnel does each product live? When during a user’s journey might they encounter the product, and how does it encourage a deeper relationship with your brand? Subscription businesses are about long-term relationships and real value. It takes research, strategy, and empathy to meet audiences where they are and offer them something valuable. This concept of “double duty" is one way I’ve been thinking about and articulating this lately. How else do you think about building habit via content products?
