If a recruiter reaches out to you and wants to book a screen call, please please please don't turn up to the call having not done any research into the company/opportunity I am a 3rd party recruiter so I am never tied to one business I work with BUT, it still gives me a slight red flag. However, when it comes to internal recruiters I am not sure they will react in the same way. I completely appreciate how tough the market has been and is still today. Me - "What kind of personalities would work well with your current team?" Hiring Manager - "Er, what are you talking about? I just want staff!" I've turned away business with companies who don't understand the importance of having staff who work well together, let me explain why..... Every single one of us want to get up every day and look forward to going to work... yes? Wouldn't you love to wake up and think, "I've got an amazing idea, I can't wait to talk it through with my colleagues?", yes? Well, being a recruitment consultant is not about putting a "bum on a seat", well for me, anyway! That doesn't create happiness for me and I have a luxury of owning my business where I'm able to say NO. 😁 NO recruitment consultant wants to work with a business they don't personally believe in! ⚠️ Companies who are HIRING - Listen Up! ⚠️ There is a crazy volume of extremely high calibre and experienced candidates on the market right now who are available NOW! Especially in contracting! Candidates are having a really hard time at the moment. 😔 They are suddenly faced with competing with SEVERAL HUNDRED others for ONE JOB! It’s wild out there! What does this mean for you? Well… If you are contemplating hiring a contractor or three at some point in H2 2024, NOW is the time to do it! The supply far outstrips the demand and you could snap up some outrageous talent for your teams for 40-50% less on a day rate compared to this time last year. I spoke to so many people yesterday who are normally £850-£1100 per day who would gladly take a contract at £500 per day right now! Why? Because 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing! That’s not an invitation to low ball amazing people by the way! Its me saying that you might be hiring for a certain level of role at a certain budget, and you manage to get someone two or three levels higher in terms of experience for the same price. Imagine the impact that could have on your team? This situation will NOT last long. When the market turns, you will go back to paying PREMIUM DOLLAR 💵 for these people! It's easy to get lost in the job search. With the surge of Quick Apply, volume of Inmails (relevant and not so much), keeping track can be a full time job. Top tip, keep a detailed record of all your applications. Whether they be direct applications, through agency or internal referral it's the best way to know how you are performing in the job search. Less is more. Which can include assessing how your CV is being read, converting to interview and being able to keep it as tailored to the job as possible. It can be easy to hit the Quick Apply button, or just tell an agency to send your CV out (I don't recommend). But it can be damaging to your profile and just not very efficient. Anyone can freelance/contract ⁉️🤔 I've placed over 50 people in contract positions in 2024 🌍 Some seasoned pro's with 10+ projects under their belt - others young, early career & only just starting out in the industry. There's no age or experience limit to being a freelancer/contractor but to start in it & be good at... You must have/be 👇 ✅ Enough experience or knowledge to show that your services can solve the clients issue/s within a fixed timeline. ✅ Able to perform from day 1, there is often no probation or cooling off period - you are a freelancer/contractor not an employee. ✅ Able to take ownership for yourself & your actions - this includes if asked & you accept a job - your logistics, accommodation, time management etc etc. ✅ Able to take the lows with the highs as you may sometimes be without work. If you cant do all of the above as a minimum. I would advise you don't start contracting (yet). If you can... Good luck you’ll smash it! #eujobs #konstrukt

If you do, it's because you rely heavily on job boards and business networking sites to source candidates. Like several other agencies, when you analyse your placements from the last 12-18 months, you'll find that a great number of those candidates already existed on your system, but you spent a large sum of £££s on sourcing the same candidates using job boards and other sources. You'll likely find that at least 40-50% of those candidates were in your database. This supports what we have been seeing. The Contract market has been very resilient over the summer, and it is often a very good indicator of an improvement in the permanent hiring market within digital commerce in the coming 2 to 3 months. Of particular note are the types of roles that are prominent in this data, those types of hires indicate more projects kicking off which will lead to more hiring across development, architecture, testing, and user interface. Design output is one of the main reasons for losing money on contracting. Same names/same faces and the same ways of working, near enough every owner we work with pulls there hair out about design. Lack of talent kills the local markets, A strong Design manager or Job captain (NA) tends to have options and then complacency kicks in, if reversed and you drive output and performance your stock rises quickly. Being a 'Specialist Recruiter' is not a new concept, everyone has a niche now. But, if you genuinely know the space you support.....and can build trust and credibility in your market over the phone - why not do that at scale? I spoke to a client last month who had 27,000 1st connections specific to the market they support struggling for new client relationships. What was their BD strategy? Over a month emailing a list of 2500 cold contacts from ZoomInfo using a 4 stage email campaign....you know the ones. Responses so far....Zero. What were they doing on LinkedIn to engage what is a fairly hefty audience....nothing........in fact they had never posted anything, ever. Based on user stats over 20,000 of that same Recruiters connections visit LinkedIn at least once a week for 7.5 minutes on average. You can communicate with them everyday through content. And they come voluntarily - Its a completely different communication strategy . If they spent some time talking about whats happening in their market right now....building some credibility and trust they could reach 8x more than the cold list off of ZoomInfo in a shorter period. If only 1% of that audience ask the recruiter for help thats 200 enquiries a week! So again.... if you rate yourself in your niche. Why are you waiting for that connected call, or email response to give yourself the chance of standing out?

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY “I am using agencies, but not you; You’re too slow, you didn’t send one CV last time” Yes, they are right. I didn’t send any CVs over. Why? I hadn’t come across a candidate I deemed suitable. In fact, they had hired a candidate I had spoken too and quickly moved past. I didn’t feel they were strong enough. I was right, the candidate lasted a week. I don’t send CVs for the sake of it, we provide a quality service, Not just a quick fix. If you don’t like it, then keep churning staff.
