Once you start operating at a certain level, you can’t help but wonder if you’re actually catching and organizing ALL of your data from sales and events happening on your site Especially those coming from your Meta ads. Chances are… you’re not. Post IOS update, we were having an absurd amount of our conversions just “missed” by the native tracking we relied on. Listen We all know that in this game, every single metric needs to be accounted for if you don’t want 1,000 different fires to put out in the long term. And you don’t ever want to be in that spot. The first thing you need to do is identify exactly where, how, and how much data you’re missing So here’s how you can conduct a quick self-audit of your ad account to find that info: 1. Identify how you’ve set up your tracking First things first, you need to know and understand how your data is being tracked, collected, etc. 2. Start crunching the numbers Let’s say that last week you sold 2,000 products But when you look at your data on Meta, it only shows 1,800. That means that Facebook missed 200 of your sales… And that’s a big problem. So how do you fix it? You can do one of two ways: Start from the ground up. Pull everything apart, find where your holes are, and spend the time and energy fixing them. We ran down this route, and all we did was learn that we had no clue what we were supposed to be doing OR how we could even start to fix it. Then there's option 2 - hire a ‘construction crew’ to come in and fix everything from the ground up. Is it more efficient? Absolutely. We’ve been working with our own ‘construction crew’ for about 3 years now, and I wish we had started sooner. They gave us a LOT more data than we’d otherwise have, which in turn means we can make a lot better decisions with our business And… they tell us immediately when our tracking is broken, isn’t working properly, etc. Facebook doesn’t tell you this, Shopify doesn’t tell you this, etc etc. If they did, you wouldn’t be having the tracking issues you’re having right now, would you? Anyway - here’s what I mean by better, more profitable decisions: When you’re running ads on Facebook, you’re going to exclude returning audiences from your ads. However - it’s not always going to exclude 100%. Which is why you need a construction crew. For us - it’s Elevar. We can ensure that we’re only sending new customers back to Meta so that it can optimize based on that info ALONE. Which in turn allows us to optimize on a much more precise level. (And this is just one use case - Imagine how many we’ve had in 3 years) I could spend all day talking about the different uses and benefits of using a tool like Elevar - but I’ll get to the point. Am I a #proudpartner? Yes - but I wouldn’t have been using them for the last 3 years if what they do wasn’t extremely beneficial for us. And they’re helping me hang onto the few non-gray hairs I have left, so I’ll take it as an added bonus.

Q. Client says "Your Price is too High" First, Clarify what they mean. Most people assume and they go into objection handling mode and never ask. And lose the sale. They'll typically say... "I found someone who will do it cheaper." You'll ask: "That's fine. Is cost the most important thing for you, or actually getting results and solving the problem?" Now they'll say... "We want results for sure but at a fair price." Reply with: "Yeah, it depends on what results you want. Is it more risky to invest a little extra to solve the problem permanently? or is it more risky to go the cheap route, the problem doesn't get solved, and you stay where you are? Most people would say you buy cheap, you buy twice." This is how to reframe them from cost-based thinking to result-based thinking.

Stop relying on closed loop, third party platforms to grow your business. 1) Amazon 2) Tik Tok Shop —> Even if you’re a 8/9/10 figure seller, they do not care about you. They’ll rip you off with Amazon Basics before you know it’s coming. There’s zero “seller support”. —> They force you into FBA in order to be listed as Prime. (This requires a ton of cash flow to distribute all product across all their fulfillment centers). —> You cannot have products listed on any other selling channels at a lower cost or else Amazon will legitimately take you down. This forces brands hands into either giving away more margin or creating Amazon specific products and/or bundles. —> Did I mention you can’t even capture customer data? Oh yeah, and Amazon is the only platform where organic and paid go hand in hand. Do you want to really sell and move units on there? Get ready to DUMP in a SH!T TON of $$$ Now let’s move onto Tik Tok Shop. —> Wait, you can’t collect customer information here either? Hahahahahaha, nope! Funny question though. —> I have yet to meet a single person who has purchased a product from Tik Tok Shop and knows what brand it came from. They either have no idea or assume Tik Tok made it. So there’s legitimately ZERO brand exposure occurring. —> You have to pay for ads, give away 20% to affiliates, give them free product, pay the platform fees? Yup, you do. —> It’s a compulsive product purchase platform. What does that mean? That means younger consumers scroll, see a cool product being shown off, and one click purchase. They don’t care who is selling it. They don’t care what brand makes it. They don’t leave platform to further research. So what does that mean? Zero brand exposure is occurring regardless of how many customers float over to another closed loop system in Amazon 🙄 —> You can try to capture data during the unboxing experience for customers, but let’s be honest here… no one’s scanning marketing insert QR codes anymore. It’s 2024. Take rates on that across in box packaging is under 1%. So what am I saying here? 1) If you can maintain 15-20%+ margins on these channels and keep them profitable then keep truckin’ along. All the power to you. 2) Grow and maximize your own channels first before you even think about selling on closed loop platforms. 3) Social Commerce is here to stay, but as it currently stands, it’s not for everyone. Not all brands have the cash, product, or margin in order to even consider it, especially since you can’t collect data or even expose your brand the way you want it exposed. 4) China is going to continue to BLOW THESE UP, but in a bad way. Get ready for Amazon China folks and Temu will keep doubling daily. 5) YouTube x Shopify is going to DOMINATE all social commerce. In a few years you’ll forget all about TT Shop. The winners will be there so start preparing for that. Anyways, that all I have for now, I gotta go.
