    Original survey research exploring the relationship between self-directed autonomous learning behaviors (as manifest in the psychological construct of learner autonomy) and effectiveness as a leader. Demographic factors such as age, tenure, years in the organization, marital status, and gender were also analyzed in the relationship.

    Original survey research exploring the relationship between self-directed autonomous learning behaviors (as manifest in the psychological construct of learner autonomy) and effectiveness as a leader. Demographic factors such as age, tenure, years in the organization, marital status, and gender were also analyzed in the relationship.
    Although there were no significant correlations found between learner autonomy and leadership effectiveness, it was discovered that the demographic variables had no effect on a leaders' abilities or effectiveness. This demonstrated that a leader could be highly effective regardless of demographic factors studied.

  • Clinical Protocol Revision - Virginia Interfacility Protocols

    Completed a revision of a complex set of interfacility protocols for Valley Medical Transport's Virginia Operations which formally incorporated the regional EMS council protocols, interfacility protocols, and various policy statements, goals, and objectives to improve clinical outcomes into one comprehensive document. This protocol revision was approved by the Operational Medical Director for Valley Medical Transport's Virginia Operations.

    Approved to conducted a 12-month clinical pilot study investigating the safety and efficacy of the transport of insulin by Class 3 Interfacility Paramedics in the State of West Virginia.

    This clinical pilot study was approved by the Medical Policy Care Committee (MPCC) comprised of the State Medical Director for EMS and the Regional Medical Directors for all 9 regions of WV.

    Approved to conducted a 12-month clinical pilot study investigating the safety and efficacy of the transport of insulin by Class 3 Interfacility Paramedics in the State of West Virginia.

    This clinical pilot study was approved by the Medical Policy Care Committee (MPCC) comprised of the State Medical Director for EMS and the Regional Medical Directors for all 9 regions of WV.
    WV Class 3 interfacility paramedic training is shorter and less intense in nature than a traditional critical care level program (i.e.: CCT, FP-C, CCP-P, UMBC CC-EMTP).

    After a 6 month review of the data, the pilot study was shown to be successful and the state medical director committee needed no further data collected.

    Insulin was previously a critical care only medication but shown to be safely transported, utilized, and titrated by the WV Class 3 level of interfacility paramedic and was approved to be placed in the statewide protocol for the Class 3 level paramedic formulary.

    This clinical pilot study was approved by the Medical Policy Care Committee (MPCC) comprised of the State Medical Director for EMS and the Regional Medical Directors for all 9 regions of WV.

    Developed, implemented, and continually improving a comprehensive quality assurance / performance improvement initiative that incorporated the quality assurance and performance improvement requirements for Emergency Medical Services for the states of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland into one cohesive process.

    Identified an organizational need for increased clinical education in ventilatory management. Developed and rolled out intensive training program for paramedics in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland. Obtained approval for program from the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems for corporate Specialty Care Transport agency license.
