It can take 2-3 months just to get approval to run ads for RMG operators. That’s before you even think about testing, scaling, or optimizing campaigns. It’s frustrating, it’s slow, and it’s filled with red tape. But having someone on your side who knows the ins and outs of this process is everything. Here’s what it actually looks like when you’re trying to launch a campaign in this space: Month 1: Compliance Checks & Waiting Around You’ve filled out every form, submitted all your documents, and followed every rule in the book. Now you wait. And wait. If you’re lucky, you’ll get feedback from Meta or Google saying you missed some tiny detail. If not, your account just sits in “review” for weeks. Month 2: Maybe Some Progress...Maybe Not If you get approved on one platform—great! But don’t get too comfortable. You might find out that the ad creative isn’t compliant or your landing page needs tweaks. Best case? We launch a small campaign to test the waters. Worst case? We’re still going back and forth. We decreased CPL by 53%, improved lead conversion by 55%, and increased ROAS by 92% YoY for Yardzen. …and it got featured on Meta’s showcase. Here’s how: We implemented a conversions API solution for leads going to their website. That’s because initially, they were focused on generating leads. However, a bunch of leads don’t mean anything without conversions. So we wanted to shift towards focusing on actual qualified leads. They were getting a bunch of users in the door… But it was clear from the data that these weren’t leads that had a chance at buying. So to improve on this quality per lead, the #1 focus was pushing all of their data back to Meta that it wasn’t aware of. That way every time a user would schedule an appointment with them, and convert… Meta could take that data (which it didn’t have access to) and send it back to the campaign. Once that occurs, it uses that data to get smarter, going out and finding more people like that user who just converted. So every conversion we drove for them on Meta was powering the algorithm to find the next user that would convert. All that in mind, we were able to decrease CPL YoY by 53%. But more interesting than that… Their lead conversion went up by 55%, and that directly led to a 92% increase in ROAS YoY. NOT a 92% increase in return on leads. Return on ad spend. On cold hard revenue. And that’s all because we were able to tie things back to actual business outcomes and leverage data for more than just lead gen.

If you're an omnichannel seller, Google's new Performance Max for Marketplace could be a major sales driver for you... Performance Max for Marketplaces lets sellers advertise marketplace products (e.g. on Amazon, Walmart, etc.) without a website. The impact of this new feature could be major, but also depends on the adoption of it by big marketplaces. For example, Amazon sellers can now advertise their listings more seamlessly with Google which could lead to more sales. I still believe this is the beginning of the omnichannel revolution. Both Google and Meta are racing to drive sales across all channels and not just your DTC site. Solutions like these further emphasize why should be diversifying your sales mix rather than your advertising mix.

What makes a Successful TikTok Shop? Look at the top 3 Shops.... They range from 1,000 - 2,600 affiliates videos for the last 30 days. The biggest expense with TikTok Shop are the samples. Because every affiliate video requires a sample. If we look at the top Shops on TikTok for the last 30 days, their sales and # affiliate videos: How much did it cost them (1 Affiliate video = 1 sample): 👉 Micro Ingredients - Samples: 1901 - Avg Cost: $29.12 - Total: $55,367 🔥 0.005% of there total revenue 👉 Milamiamor - Samples: 1029 - Avg Cost: $17.95 - Total: $18,470.55 🔥 0.002% of there total revenue 👉 Tarte Cosmetics - Samples: 2654 - Avg Cost: $31.11 - Total: $82,565.94 🔥 0.02% of there total revenue These are rough estimates… but you get the picture. Then it begs the question: Would you spend 1% or less of your monthly revenue on samples? TikTok Shop AOV is WAY lower than website b/c: 1. Discounts are CAPPED which does not incentivize higher cart sizes (in the below example, you think it's 50% off, but the coupon is maxed at $20 discount) 2. Upsells/cross-sells in the CART are below the fold and ppl will rarely scroll below the "checkout button" 3. These are largely impulse purchases. If TTS doesn't incentivize higher AOV, brands are stuck in low AOV purgatory. If I'm TikTok, I start considering a solve for both of the above.. honestly pretty easy Despite TTS low AOVs, we're noticing 2.5-7x higher conversion rate than the DTC site. B/c of this- TikTok Ads performance has been higher driving to the Shop (vs website) for every client we've touched on TikTok in 2024.

AOV, CAC, MER, and CLV can be misleading. Avoid the average trap. Suppose your store number looks like this - AOV: $55 CAC: $20 Now, with fix $15 COGS & $10 Shipping $55 - $20 - ($15+$10) = $10 in profit You are making a $10 profit on each purchase. But in reality, 70% of orders look like - Order value: $45 CAC: $25 With fixed COGs & shipping $45 - $25 - ($15+$10) = $5 in loss So you are making $5 in loss with the majority of your orders. Why are averages looking good? It's mostly because - * Organic or direct traffic sources * High ticket orders * Repeat purchases * Word-of-mouth marketing * Email marketing Blended metrics will not help unless you are selling a single product on a single channel to a single type of user. The key to profitable growth lies in segmented metrics. Segment each important metric at -  Products, Channels and Customer level. Once you start breaking up the blended metrics in each bucket, you will start seeing the leaks in the bucket. Remove products, change budgets, and focus on different segments. Viral posts linking to TikTok Shop boost other channels. Here's what we see: DTC sales for the posted SKU increased by 50% of TikTok Shop sales. Amazon increased by 25%. The additional 75% of TikTok Shop sales captured on DTC and Amazon don't pay affiliate commission. TikTok Shop could at lower margin attributing revenue to other channels.
