Here's how we would get to $50k/month on TikTok Shop if we started today 1. 50% commission for affiliates 2. Steep discounts on prices (>30%) Run a ton of flash sales in the beginning 3. Own + affiliate content (20 posts+ a day minimum) 4. Run ads almost immediately to acquire the first 50 sold to establish product and market demand Many will say this isn't realistic but compared to wasting time and not figuring out this platform sooner rather than later I'm willing to take some upfront risks in the beginning and get the flywheel going faster. Things will only move quicker from here once you hit escape velocity but I just see many DTC brands (Amazon brands are willing to take this bet) stuck at 0 because they don't want to lose some money to bet on an outsized return

YouTube takes on TikTok Shop with expanded Shopify partnership. As TikTok Shop gains traction, YouTube is expanding its partnership with Shopify to onboard more brands for its YouTube Shopping affiliate program, the company announced on Tuesday. The expanded partnership means creators will get access to thousands of new brands to tag in their shopping videos, marking a significant increase from the few hundred brands they currently have access to. As part of the expansion, all eligible Shopify Plus and Advanced merchants in the U.S. can now sign up for the Shopping affiliate program. The YouTube Shopping affiliate program gives creators a way to earn money through their videos while helping their audience find new products. For brands, it’s another way to reach customers and increase sales. The expanded partnership will allow YouTube to be better poised to take on TikTok, which is reportedly aiming to grow its TikTok Shop U.S. business tenfold to $17.5 billion this year. Although TikTok is newer to the U.S. e-commerce space when compared to YouTube, the company has been onboarding merchants at a relatively fast pace, as TikTok reported in April that it had 500,000 merchants in the U.S. on TikTok Shop by the end of 2023. YouTube also announced that it’s launching a new Chrome extension that will allow creators in the U.S. who are part of the affiliate program to save products while browsing a brand or retailer’s site in order to quickly find them when they’re ready to tag them in a video. The expansion of the affiliate program comes as YouTube has ramped up its e-commerce efforts over the past few years as a way to bring in more revenue amid a slowdown in digital advertising. Its efforts seem to be working, as YouTube previously announced that people watched more than 30 billion hours of shopping-related videos on YouTube in 2023, and that that platform saw a 25% increase in watch time for videos that help people shop. TikTok has officially partnered with Amazon to allow users to make Amazon purchases directly from the TikTok app. What a game-changer for affiliate marketing ! Pinterest has also signed up to do a similar partnership. Amazon’s marketing time is relentless and I love it. As we consume more and more content, people also don’t seem to want or can be asked to actually search anymore. Having a direct link to the Amazon page will hopefully increase sales for businesses as well as content creators. Amazon is essentially tapping into the compulsive social behaviour a lot of us have especially, when see an item that we think we need NOW. I do wonder though are Amazon relying too heavily on this notion considering we are in both a recession and a cost of living crisis. People are very money conscious at the min and studies have shown there's been a a massive decrease in online sales since COVID for many reasons. On the other hand, we are becoming more accustomed to shopping online than walking to a shop, a lot of shops have become fully online stores and I can not blame them especially when you see the emptiness of a shopping centre these days. This brand does not care which affiliates it works with, but most brands are very picky on which affiliates they work with. They had 1,956 affiliate posts in the last 30 days: $11.74m monthly sales rely on $11.25m from Affiliates….. but 82% of their affiliates made $1k or less.
