I've been using #vim as my primary tool (and I guess #IDE?) since the 1990s. The only time I don't use VIM is when I work with #microsoft related things, but for everything else I use VIM. It's so accessible and convenient. I use VIM for working with #elasticsearch, #screenplay writing, #postfix, #golang, #openssl, #php, #rfp response and #proposal writing, #nodejs, #reactnative, #terraform, #fail2ban, #sed, #wordpress, #ethicalhacking, #mysql, #mongo, #apache, #nginx, #dockercompose etc... It's one tool to rule them all. For the past 30 years, there's only been about 20 or so commands that I use, and it's all finger muscle memory at this point. However, I forgot that vim has a lot of other useful things! Just this minute, I learnt I can do :help :index to see a list of OTHER COMMANDS I could have used! I just discovered :vertical terminal (as opposed to just :ter). Now I can have a VERTICAL terminal window beside my code!!!! Maybe I should do an update to this video some day!

To those parents out there, I’m going to dive into a topic we can all relate to: planning a family outing! Which I feel is just like requirements gathering in what we do at Cloud Assist. Just like figuring out the perfect trip for your little crew, gathering requirements for your enterprise systems is crucial. Imagine planning a surprise trip without knowing what your kids love to do? That would end up being a disaster, right!?! Similarly, skipping requirements gathering for enterprise systems means risking missed expectations, frustrated team members, increase in scope, timelines shifting… just a bit of a nightmare in short! By sitting down and understanding everyone's needs upfront, you can tailor the system to fit like a perfectly-sized shoe. My sons is a pair of converse as he won’t keep on any other shoe! (Sorry Jordan’s and DC’s, trust me I’ve tried!) Requirements gathering is about ensuring every key stakeholder from IT to Finance to HR have the tools they need to thrive and the end goal is properly documented. Plus, it prevents those moments of realising you forgot the sunscreen halfway through the day! NEW SUCCESS STORY: University of Massachusetts Amherst + Cloud for Good Enterprise Management Services By layering Enterprise Managed Services on top of their existing CRM resources, the UMass team was able to focus on their CRM as a whole while tackling projects that would aid in the useability of the platform. Copilot can now create summaries for much longer Word documents than before – up to about 80,000 words. That’s 4x more than the previous limit. This new feature is could be a time-saver for businesses dealing with lengthy documents like legal files or financial records.
