If you get caught and get a massive fine, is the dispatcher going to tell the trucking company to take it from their pay? If you are out of hours and involved in an accident, is the dispatcher going to notify the police that they authorised you to keep driving and ask all penalties to be applied to them? Dry Van Freight Market Update Week 35: ~Retail events like Labor Day Sales, Back-to-School shopping, and upcoming Halloween parties are expected to increase truckload volumes in the Allentown, Harrisburg, & Philly markets.  ~Allentown has seen truckload volumes increase by 5.4% in the last month which has raised spot rates up over 2% of this time frame last year. ~Allentown > Charlotte paid trucks an average of $1.50/mile which is $0.17/mile higher than Week 35 2023. ~Harrisburg > Boston averaged $3.19/mile which is also up 2% y/y. #freightmarket #supplychain #transportation #logistics #trucking

Asking for Driver referals the wrong way... and how you can it the right way to be more effective. In the past, when I meet fleet owners or driver recruiters who are looking for Truck Drivers to hire I normally hear something along this line. If you know of any driver looking for a job send them my way. Sounds like a pretty straightforward thing right? There's nothing wrong with asking for referrals In fact, it's a great way to leverage other people But the problem is... Sending "any Driver" to a company ❌️...WITHOUT communicating their ideal Driver ❌️No job offer details or what the job entails As we all know that not all Drivers are equal. I mean, this could cause confusion to the Driver, and time wasted on both ends How? 1) The Driver has no clue what he or she is getting into. 2) The company has no idea the type of Drivers they would be getting since there were no specific details. Therefore, both parties are throwing mud against the wall to see what sticks which can lead to frustration. If you are going to rely on referrals Here are a few tips for you ✅️Create a connection to build trust before asking. ✅️Provide a brief description about your company and job. (Not too much information to overwhelm them) ✅️Be specific about what you’re looking for in a Driver and what you provide in return to avoid wasting your valuable time and energy That's it for now. The New Jersey Department of Transportation is seeking feedback on how to improve truck parking in the state. To understand the needs of drivers, and the trucking industry, NJDOT has developed two surveys: 1. For short-haul drivers, such as drayage or delivery drivers, who park in New Jersey for staging and daytime breaks; and 2. For long-haul drivers who park in New Jersey overnight. These codes, known as CDL A restriction codes, determine what you can and can’t do with your license. Big changes are coming to the FMCSA Clearinghouse II with the Final Rule (86 FR 55718) that will impact the way drug and alcohol violations are handled in the trucking industry. 🚚💼 Key Updates You Need to Know: 🔍 State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) Get Involved Starting November 18, 2024, State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) will begin removing the commercial driving privileges of any driver with a “prohibited status” in the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse. This means that drivers with violations like positive drug or alcohol tests, refusals to test, or failing to complete the return-to-duty process will not be able to hold a CDL or commercial learner's permit (CLP). This will block drivers from legally operating commercial vehicles if they have not complied with the necessary procedures, protecting road safety by preventing high-risk drivers from getting behind the wheel. 📝 Expanded Reporting Requirements for Employers Employers will be required to report all drug and alcohol violations to the Clearinghouse, including positive tests, refusals, and return-to-duty processes. This helps create a more transparent and accountable system. 📱 Driver Self-Reporting Drivers will also need to self-report any drug or alcohol violations to the Clearinghouse. This ensures that all driver records are accurate and up-to-date. 🔒 Employer Responsibilities Employers must query the Clearinghouse for each driver before hiring and at least once a year thereafter.
