Driver turnover and the expenses tied to frequent fleet replacement present a major challenge in trucking, with turnover rates often climbing as high as 90% annually and costs averaging $10,000 per lost driver. Tackling this issue goes beyond simply recruiting more drivers—it requires a strategic approach to address the root causes and effectively reduce these costs. #trucking #costsavings #fleetmanagement #truckingefficiency Check out our website for some FREE data downloads that you can use as a resource. In this market, you don't want to be delayed to the shipper or receiver because of tires. A solid pre-trip inspection can save you trouble later on. Here's what you need to do for those tires: 1. Look for any cracks, cuts, or bulges on the sidewall. That could mean the tire is weakened and might blow out. 2. Check the tread depth. If it's too low, you might not have enough grip on wet or slippery roads. 3. Make sure the tire pressure is right. If they're over-inflated or under-inflated, it can mess with how your vehicle handles and how much gas you use. This could save your company time and money. Especially if it's a company driver, you need to train them to do proper pre-trip inspections and report them every time so that everything can be documented and problems can be avoided later on. Drivers don't like to be micromanaged, but these things need to be implemented one way or another. Even if you're a dispatcher or just involved in the trucking business, it's important to know this stuff. #truckingindustry

PSA: I’m all for negotiating and asking for a rate that you feel you are worth. I will never knock a carrier for calling on a spot load and asking if I can work on the rate, of course I can, how much do you need? But if you call on a box truck load, with a box truck, on a lane that I can get a dry van for $1550 and ask me for $1900… I am going to hang up on you. Do you really think I have that much money to move a box truck load??? To add to that, it’s always 3rd party dispatchers. Not only are you wasting my time, but you are wasting your time, and more important than that, you are doing a disservice to the driver you are dispatching for. Y’all are free to disagree, but this drives me crazy. #ShipSentry #WeGuardYourFreight

What would you do in this situation????? 🎯Background- New customer, First container. I don’t know them, they don’t know me. Loading is in Central California, 6 + hours each direction. Customer credit is deemed “ok to work with”. 🎯Loading Attempt #1 - we arrive to loader and told the load requires a tanker endorsed driver (we were told it was pallets). We were not informed of this until the truck arrived. Roundtrip, dry run. Come back tomorrow. 🎯Loading Attempt #2 - we assign a tanker endorsed driver. Truck arrrives on time (0800) although now the warehouse refuses to load due to what the warehouse deems an “invalid” drivers license. License is verified by California Highway Patrol and same truck/driver is loaded after what would be on site 10 hrs on site. Truck is out of hours and has to layover near loader. After ruining what would be roughly 5-6 hrs of the day being screamed at “it’s the trucks fault”, we have a loaded container with an irate, one off container customer telling me he isn’t going to approve any additional charges or accessorials. ‼️‼️What to do now with the loaded container? ‼️‼️ Junction Collaborative Transports Junction Integrated Logistics Junction Transfer & Warehousing #thecontainerdaddy #drayage #wrong

The number of rolls a truck driver can make in a given round depends on various factors such as the size of the truck, the distance of the route, the weight of the cargo, and any regulatory restrictions or company policies. Typically, a truck driver might make multiple stops or deliveries during a single round trip, especially if they are operating in a regional or local capacity. For long-haul trucking, drivers may cover greater distances in a single trip but may have fewer stops. It's important for truck drivers to adhere to regulations regarding driving hours, rest breaks, and maximum weight limits, which can affect the number of rolls they can make in a round. Additionally, factors like traffic conditions, weather, and road closures can also impact the number of deliveries a driver can complete within a round trip. Ultimately, the specific number of rolls a truck driver can make in a round would vary based on these factors and would be determined by the logistics of each individual delivery route.

Back to the realities of trucking after spending the last several days at the Mid-America Trucking Show After getting delayed over yesterday because trailer got locked in repair shop for the weekend, made it about 20 miles outside of the Love's Travel Stops and popped an airbag. Repairing first thing in the morning. One thing I admire about them is the push to bring more technicians into the industry. Currently there aren’t many all night shops, so road service is what you get if you can’t afford to wait until normal business hours. Call-in or road service can easily cost 2-3 times normal shop rates, really destroying profitability. So thanks Love's Travel Stops for making the truck industry a little better one person at a time. PS Maybe we’ll see y’all at Louisville next year? 🤙🏼 **also** You can meet with me April 22-24 as I jump on the stage to talk trucking in Kansas City at the Broker Carrier Summit, if you haven’t already registered head over and check it out, come network and make new connections and learn some more.
