How can News organizations, networks and local stations groups create more content, more efficiently, and with better quality? 1- Virtual #extendedreality and #augmentedreality environments on LED studios are at the forefront of the technology adoption that is making immersive experiences the gateway for a new storytelling reality. 2- How the news and local content is going to be produced to engage younger audiences in the near future is beyond today's physical and green screen studios and way closer to a gamified LED XR immersive content experience without creative boundaries.

“Sony Music Entertainment is set to acquire the catalog of legendary rock band Queen in a landmark deal worth GBP £1 billion (USD $1.27 billion at current exchange rates). That’s according to Hits, which reported on Wednesday (June 19), citing sources, that Sony Music has emerged as the winning buyer for Queen’s recording and publishing rights, as well as royalties from previous deals with Disney Music Group and Universal Music Group. Disney owns the band’s recorded music catalog in North America, while UMG has a global distribution agreement with Disney. Separately, Queen band members Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon – plus the Freddie Mercury estate – each own equal shares in the company Queen Productions Ltd, which owns the group’s recording catalog outside the US and Canada, Music Business Worldwide noted in a report last year. UMG, as Disney’s distributor, will reportedly retain distribution rights in North America, although Sony will receive the royalties. UMG’s worldwide distribution rights will then transfer to Sony in 2026 or 2027, making Sony Music the sole distributor and owner of all Queen content globally, Hits explained. The deal also reportedly includes name and likeness rights, opening doors for merchandise and other ventures. I’ve seen a lot of change in the television industry over the past 25 years, but nothing comes close to the velocity of today’s new developments. Well, I suppose “new” is relative, as what was old becomes new again. As this excellent article puts it, “The streamers that had been quick to destroy the old network TV formula are now looking to emulate it.” Commercials? ✔ More linear-like programming? ✔ Cable-like bundling? ✔ These kinds of course corrections from major streamers are exciting for us as we continue to seek opportunities for our clients in a dynamic and evolving landscape. https://lnkd.in/eaZ_BHv9

I recently spoke with Alyssa Boyle about why advertisers are doubling down on #CTV outcomes measurement (as affirmed by many conversations I had with industry leaders in Cannes this past week). A common theme among the marketers I talked to? They’re looking for metrics that can predict sales based on fast, accurate data. Outcomes such as search activity, website visits, and app downloads are significant indicators that a consumer is considering a purchase — and highly correlated with a brand’s market share. That’s why a brand’s Share of Search grows (or shrinks) before its market share – which our data, validated by Les Binet and the EffWorks working group of the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising), has proven time and again. ✅🖥️ Variety (10/2): “NBCU and Charter announced a new multiyear distribution deal that will make the Peacock Premium ad-supported streaming service for “no additional cost” to Spectrum TV Select video customers. The addition of Peacock to the Spectrum TV lineup comes after Charter inked similar deals for Disney+ and ESPN+, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max and Discovery+, Paramount Global’s Paramount+ and BET+, AMC Networks’ AMC+ and Univision’s Vix. All told, according to Charter, through the programming deals reached over the past year, the cable operator will soon provide Spectrum TV Select video customers up to $65/month of retail direct-to-consumer streaming value. Charter is understood to be paying a per-subscriber wholesale fee to the media companies for the rights to bundle their streaming services with Spectrum TV. So while the streaming services are “free” to some of Charter’s cable TV customers, it seems likely that the company will be raising monthly subscription rates to account for the additional linear-plus-streaming programming. Charter also will allow video customers to upgrade to the the ad-free Peacock Premium+ tier. Surprised? CONCERNED?? Although no surprises, as production is down everywhere (although it seems to be rebounding more outside of the U.S., e.g., Canada, the UK and Australia. Acknowledging Governor Newsom is doing all he can (given the political climate, and budgetary issues & concerns) Los Angeles and California will face further competition from Illinois (as announced last week, Illinois now allows National Talk Shows, (‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Live – note, ‘The Tonight Show’, ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” – have already moved to NY because of incentives), Game Shows (e.g., ‘Jeopardy’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’) and Contest Shows (e.g., “American Idol” and ‘America’s Got Talent’). Talk Shows, Game Shows and Contest Shows do not qualify for the California incentive. Also, NJ Governor just signed a new bill, further enhancing the NJ incentive – reviewing the Bill now and will summarize and share ASAP.  Also noting, there was pending legislation in other states (e.g., Oklahoma - while it didn’t pass in Oklahoma this year, Oklahoma will try again to incentivize live tv/episodic television (still LA/CA’s bread & butter!!! For example, a new format called Telly T-Commerce integrates ads with a new way to buy products with a click. Another demo for its “Dual Screen Take Over” shows a Pepsi can pouring out on Telly’s main big screen while ice and liquid rise on the smaller second screen below. Along with its ad formats, Telly also announced new programmatic ad integrations with Index Exchange and Madhive along with expanded partnerships with PMG and other media agencies. Telly also debuted a new music app in collaboration with Vevo and a new fitness app that uses motion-tracking. Samba TV announced a new combination of AI tools for identifying content, targeting audiences and measurement ad performance. New features include using facial recognition to identify actors and athletes on the screen across scripted shows, reality programas and sports events. These publishers will attract new demand and more scale for Seedtag’s contextual ad products. Seedtag entered the US market in 2022. But it wasn’t until earlier this year that it launched its first CTV-focused contextual ad product that allows advertisers to apply contextual targeting signals to their streaming buys. More advertisers are now looking for addressable alternatives in light of signal loss and privacy concerns, which, in turn, is driving more interest in streaming ad products. Hence Seedtag’s decision to buy rather than build in order to capture that growing demand. “Apple Music is rolling out a new ‘premium’ data analytics toolkit for its record label and distributor partners. The new ‘Apple Music Partner Program’ features various tools for Apple Music’s partners to track trends on its streaming service as well as global radio plays using Shazam technology. According to the landing page for the platform, it offers “access [to] more tools to break the next talent, spot emerging trends, and uncover new insights about your content”. “Apple Music already runs another analytics platform in Apple Music For Artists, which was made available for every artist on Apple Music in August 2019. Apple Music For Artists allows artists to monitor the volume of their streaming plays on Apple Music, all within a data set that updates daily. Spotify launched its own Spotify For Artists app in 2017 (an evolution of the ‘Fan Insights’ tool it introduced two years earlier) to provide artists and their teams with information pertaining to their popularity on the service.
