Jo - As an industry, we haven't spent any time focusing on the creative. That's broken. Creative is the New KPI. Michael - Sabrina, if you were dictator for the day, what would you do to fix things? Sabrina - First, you have to fix all the broken practices. True or False 1) More creative is better than fewer? Jo: More valuable is better than more or less. 2) AI? Jo: Not holy grail but important. Not the Ozempic of adtech. Proceed with caution and use it intelligently. Use it to facilitate a marketplace where all sides win. We’ve all seen examples of brands or influencers who in times of crises opt to “turn off” the comments. It’s something we heavily recommend against in our risk assessments for new campaigns and this new study shows exactly why. As soon as you turn off the comments, the trust from your consumers drops. https://lnkd.in/e5a5YKNA It shouldn’t be a surprise, this is a pretty predictable outcome. But in times of crises, if you haven’t pre-planned, when reputations are on the line, it feels like an easy solution to make the pain go away. The lesson: ensure reputation and crisis planning is built into every campaign. With a clear stakeholder plan and pre-agreed responses to predictable hiccups. 9/10 you won’t need it. But for the one time you do - it’ll be worth the foresight.

It was 2013 when the last mega-merger was proposed. I was working for one of the Omnicom agencies. The deal was ultimately canceled due to challenges that included cultural differences, complex financial structures, regulatory hurdles, and the need for leadership alignment. Will the deal work out this time? Combining the two holding companies will undoubtedly reshape the industry landscape, creating even greater economies of scale and the potential for enhanced client offerings. We have seen some encouraging changes in leadership and strategy at Omnicom and its agencies. I suspect those of us in the business would be interested in learning more about their industry aspirations, the “why” and the “how” for current and prospective clients, their intentions to work through real and perceived conflicts, and their thinking around employee rationalization. Yep, scale still matters in media, especially if you’re an agency. Further agency consolidations aren’t necessarily good news for advertisers, who are facing more competitive conflicts sharing agencies with rival brands and facing reduced transparency as agencies grow more powerful.
