#NEWS - U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is announcing that Bestar Inc., of Canada, has agreed to a $16.025 million #civil #penalty. The #settlement, which has been provisionally accepted by CPSC, resolves CPSC’s charges that Bestar knowingly failed to immediately report to CPSC, as required by law, that its wall beds contained a defect that could create a substantial product hazard or created an unreasonable risk of serious injury to consumers. https://lnkd.in/e6Qp6mq5

CPSC reminds families to take precautions whether #shopping #online or in-person, to keep family and friends safe from common holiday-related hazards. Our latest Toy-Related Deaths and Injuries #report, reveals that in 2023 an estimated 154,700 children 12 years or younger were treated in emergency rooms due to toy-related injuries, and 10 children died in toy-related incidents.

#NEWS: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued 9 recalls of adult portable bed rails and is aware of 18 reported deaths since 2021. In 2023, CPSC took steps to address head, neck, and chest entrapment hazards by issuing 16 CFR part 1270, the Safety Standard for Adult Portable Bed Rails.
