Here’s what we uncovered about lithium-ion battery safety in the skies:    ✈️ Awareness gaps: Most cabin crew know the risks, but passengers lag behind. ✈️ Confidence in action: Cabin crew are prepared for incidents but worry about passenger safety given outside variables. ✈️ Airline rule satisfaction: Cabin crew are satisfied with airline rules, but see opportunities for improvement.    The takeaway? The Fire Safety Research Institute and New York City Fire Department recently highlighted the critical issue of deadly e-bike fires on NBC News.     Lithium-ion batteries—if damaged, modified, counterfeit, or substandard—can enter thermal runaway, leading to dangerous fires.     The good news? Safety standards work to protect consumers from these potential risks. Here's what to keep in mind:     ✅ Only buy safety-certified batteries and chargers—ideally directly from the manufacturer.  ✅ Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true; they often are.  ✅ Charge your device outdoors, if possible.  ✅ Stay informed about lithium-ion battery fire risks.     Learn more about the role standards play in e-bike safety at www.ebikesafety.ulse.org.

Americans across the country are gearing up for one of the biggest cooking days of the year—Thanksgiving. This holiday also happens to have the highest rate of home cooking fires, 240% above daily averages according to NFPA. What can you do to keep your kitchen safe this holiday? ✅ Confirm your smoke alarms and detectors are working properly and meet safety standards. ✅ Keep a fire extinguisher nearby in the kitchen and educate yourself on when to use it and when to get out of the home and call the fire department. ✅ Stay in the kitchen while food is cooking or ask for help attending the stove and other appliances if you must walk away. ✅ Use timers to remind you when to turn off heat sources or to wake you up if you nod off.
