When it comes to the world of U.S. #padel, it appears as though #Chicago is about to have a 𝘮𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 moment... That's because in the next few months alone: 🎾 Abigail McCulloch and team are set to open a four-court indoor facility in Glenview, IL, known as Alma Padel... 🎾 Fabian Gosselin P. and team will open a five-court indoor facility in the West Loop known as Union Padel Club, and... 🎾 The team behind Cube Padel (which already has a five-court indoor #padelclub in #Houston) will be opening a #SouthChicago location as early as January 11. Oh, and let's keep in mind that's all on top of: 🎾 The outdoor padel court that was installed at Saddle & Cycle Club earlier this year... 🎾 The indoor padel court that Instantcourts recently installed at a massive Chicago #pickleball facility known as the SPF Winter Fieldhouse... 🎾 The massive padel and pickleball facility that the Park District of Highland Park will be opening in the Spring of 2025, and... 🎾 The forthcoming project from Alex Vainberg, known as Proximo Padel, which could feature as many as seven padel courts when it opens later in 2025 or early 2026. (What's more, as the Professional Squash Association recently reported, Project Beacon will also soon be bringing a revolutionary outdoor public #squash court to Chicago's Union park along with #tennis and #pickleball courts -- so perhaps we'll see padel there soon, too??🤞). One of the biggest surprises of the recent #padel boom in the U.S. has got to be that, up until now, the #Phoenix area has basically been a "padel desert" 🌵, with only a single one-court club to speak of. But as I learned from my recent conversation with entrepreneur Enrique Gracia, that's all about to change in a major way with the opening of FIVE new Conquer Padel clubs in the region. As discussed in our just-released feature article (https://lnkd.in/eQ3PZieS), their first club, a five-court indoor facility with 24-foot-high ceilings in #Tempe, will hopefully open around May. From there they have plans to open four more clubs around the Phoenix area (plus another in #Tucson) and potentially even launch the first live-in padel training facility in the U.S. Oh, and they are also going to start #franchising their clubs to boot (so it would appear that their business is very aptly named!). What makes a padel club great? It's something I get asked about a lot (and probably think about even more). For instance, I just had two bright young entrepreneurs looking to open a #padel club in Texas reach out to me with dozens of smart -- and very specific -- questions about how they should approach building their club. We had a great conversation, and afterwards I realized that my most useful and powerful advice often comes in the form of suggestions on what NOT to do and all-too-common mistakes to avoid. So, I decided to put a few of these together for our final article of the week (https://lnkd.in/emC5PaAc)... I'm sure all of the much more qualified U.S. padel club experts out there (including Patricio Misitrano, Ruben Gonzalez Chapa, Tito Moreno, Julian Wortelboer, Cesar Caceres, Steve Long, Chris Klein, and Bradley Hoffman, LEED AP just to name a few) have their own opinions -- which I do hope they'll share here. 🚨 Important Update 🚨 Both in this feature article that we ran a few weeks back and our most recent "ICYMI Monday" update, we reported that the inaugural U.S. version of the Femme Open was set to take place this weekend, Dec 6 - 7, in #Houston... However, we just learned that the event has unfortunately been postponed until the new year. In a recently released statement, the event organizers said: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, including the potential for inclement weather forecasted in the Houston region this weekend, the Femme Open has decided to postpone the launch event originally planned for this weekend. We appreciate our sponsors' understanding and support! In the coming weeks, we will announce the Femme Open's 2025 tour schedule, featuring an exciting lineup of cities where our tournaments will be hosted."
