This Veterans Day weekend, the Cubic Veterans Engagement Team (CVET) volunteered at Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD) to make a difference for those in need. In partnership with VVSD and the Lucky Duck Foundation, CVET packaged over 1,000 food kits, distributing more than 350 of these kits to local organizations supporting homeless and sheltered individuals throughout San Diego. CVET employee resource group advocates for veterans and current military reserve members, including support for transitioning veterans at Cubic. As we observe Veterans Day, we extend our gratitude to veterans and all who have served—honoring their dedication, sacrifice, and service.

The destructive impact of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton continues to be felt across the local areas hit hardest by these storms. Teams at Cubic have been committed to helping the communities who remain in need of assistance. Employees at our Tullahoma, TN location as well our Nuvotronics team members participated in blood drives and have been gathering essential items to support hurricane disaster relief efforts in Tennessee and North Carolina.   At Cubic, we believe in the power of coming together to make a difference, and have organized a fundraiser for Greater Good Charities to support critical disaster relief. For Cubic Transportation Systems President Peter Torrellas, #HispanicHeritageMonth is a time to elevate, educate and inspire people of every heritage to have a dialogue around their experiences and appreciate how the things that make us unique are also the things that make an organization richer and more successful as a team. “Personally, I find inspiration in my grandfather who was born in Havana, Cuba in 1909; became a decorated an American World War Two hero, including two Purple Hearts and Bronze Star; and then a journalist and community activist. He raised me in my early years and taught me that anything is possible if you work hard and create a vision for a better future.” To make a difference in his communities, Peter has volunteered for various organizations and is passionate about improving access to education, health services, technology and employment opportunities which remains a barrier to success in far too many communities today.
