Today, we honor the incredible legacy of Peter Seidler, whose dedication and compassion in addressing homelessness left an indelible mark on our community. Two days ago, we held the first “The Peter Seidler Way Symposium on Homelessness," renamed in his honor, to reflect the tireless and positive commitment. As a pivotal member of our Executive Committee and co-founder of the “Tuesday Group,” Peter inspired us with his relentless optimism and unwavering focus on meaningful change. Peter’s legacy will forever guide us, strengthening our resolve to prevent and reduce suffering for our unsheltered neighbors. We remain deeply committed to perpetuating the his values that make up The Peter Seidler Way, including but not limited to “best in class strategies,” being doers not talkers, having a bias for action with no concern for credit, and a willingness to hold elected officials accountable. Thank you, Peter, for leading the way. #ThePeterSeidlerWay

This Veterans Day, we honor the service and sacrifices of all who have served our country. As we reflect on their bravery, we’re also reminded of the struggles many face after returning home. Over 10,980 veterans in California are experiencing homelessness, a heartbreaking reality that calls for action. Today, let’s not only thank them but work to provide every veteran the stability and support they deserve. 🇺🇸 This is a day to reflect, to appreciate, and to commit to ensuring no veteran is left behind.

“Homeless and with nowhere to turn, I held onto my spirit and determination. A job fair led me to the Rise Up Industries booth, and soon after, RUI accepted me into the program. Today, I have full-time employment, live in a house, attend college full-time, am active in my recovery and coming back stronger than I ever have been. RUI continues to mentor me in CNC machining and supports my growth in all aspects of my life. I am grateful for the blessings and the chance to build a better future.” San Diegans experiencing homelessness cite employment as a key factor in ending their homelessness. Over 40% of the homeless youth in the United States are sleeping outside, in a car, or some place not meant for human habitation. This #NationalHomelessYouthAwarenessMonth, we’re reminded of the urgent need for safe spaces and resources for vulnerable youth in our community. Every young person deserves stability, safety, and hope for a brighter future.
