About us

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world. Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind. You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.

Jason Lively spent 14 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree arson. After a decade of appeals, he received a call from his legal team saying that he was going to be let out of prison. His legal team worked with lawyers from Amazon to build his exoneration case. For the past 10 years, Amazon’s legal and public policy teams of over 2,200 employees have volunteered their expertise and resources to make a difference through our pro bono program, and this is one example of that work. This is one example of how our legal and public policy teams of over 2,200 employees have volunteered to help make a difference through our pro bono program. When children flee from war, violence, or persecution in their home countries and arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border, they can face the same deportation process as an adult, often without any legal counsel. Our team has partnered with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) to represent children and help them remain in the U.S. This is another example. This need for pro bono work all around the world is greater than ever, and we will continue to invest our time and resources into the program. We are proud to celebrate 10 years of pro bono work at Amazon this year. Read more about the program here: https://amzn.to/40A4LGk There are plenty more examples in the link above. Which one sticks out to you the most? ⬇️ 🤔

💡 Employee Spotlight 💡 Meet Chinemerem (Chí-Chí) Nwandu, an HR Assistant at DOX2, who’s inspiring Amazon journey showcases remarkable career growth and the importance of a supportive company culture. Chí-Chí relocated from Nigeria in January 2020 for her Master's Degree, and shortly after, the world went into lockdown. She found herself in a foreign country, far from family and friends, leaving her lonely and frustrated. Then, she got a job with Amazon, which changed everything. Chí-Chí started her career at Amazon as a warehouse associate working with a dedicated team focused on maintaining product quality. Two years later, she continued her career at Amazon as an HR Assistant, where she’s been able to utilise her knowledge of employment law and HR/payroll practices, enhance employee engagement, and even have the opportunity to take on an interim managerial position. A rewarding part of Chí-Chí’s role is aligning HR initiatives with business goals while promoting fairness across the organization. As an active member of the UK Ops Black Employee Network (BEN) affinity group, she’s deeply passionate about promoting diversity, particularly for young Black female employees, and using her voice to raise awareness about the challenges ethnic minorities face in the workplace. “I enjoy working at Amazon because of its strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and fostering a supportive workplace culture. Being part of a company that values people from all backgrounds allows for rich collaboration and the exchange of unique perspectives, which drives innovation and creativity.”

⚛️ Breaking: Amazon makes new investments in advanced nuclear technology to help address energy needs. ⚛️ We’ve signed innovative new agreements to help develop a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project in Washington State with Energy Northwest and explore a second in Virginia with Dominion Energy. These projects will provide net-new carbon-free energy to the grid and help power our operations, which is part of our Climate Pledge commitment to reach net-zero carbon by 2040. Unlike traditional nuclear plants, SMRs take up less space and can come online quicker to help address our society’s growing energy needs. In addition, we’re making an investment through our Climate Pledge Fund in X-energy to develop the next generation of SMR technology and fuel, which will help bring more than five gigawatts of new nuclear energy to the grid over the next 15 years. Enough to power ~4 million U.S. homes. We view our investment in nuclear as a natural expansion of our work to advance carbon-free energy. We recently met our goal to match all the electricity consumed by our operations with 100% renewable energy. We got there by investing in more than 500 wind and solar projects globally, and while we’re proud of that achievement, we know there’s more work to be done. As society’s energy needs increase, nuclear will play an increasingly important role in how we decarbonize our power sources. We've just wrapped our annual Delivering the Future event — showcasing our latest and greatest innovations in robotics, AI, and delivery technology. Here are some key updates: 🚙 We're making deliveries for drivers easier with AI — using our Vision-Assisted Package Retrieval (VAPR). This in-van AI guidance system shows drivers exactly which packages need to be delivered at their current delivery spot — saving them ~30 mins per route and reducing their perceived physical and cognitive effort by 67% during their shifts. 🤖 We're using the latest in AI and robotics to get packages to you faster using tech pioneered for our next generation fulfillment center in Shreveport, LA — speeding up same-day deliveries by processing your orders 25% faster. 📦 We're enhancing our delivery services and shopping experience with AI — for example, you can now generate grocery lists directly from your meal plans. ♻️ We've removed all plastic air pillows from our delivery packaging, replacing them with paper filler made from recycled content. With this shift, we'll avoid nearly 15 BILLION plastic air pillows every year. 💊 We've expanded our Amazon Pharmacy delivery services. We're more than doubling the number of Amazon Pharmacy locations at Same-Day delivery sites across the United States in 2025, which will mean more convenient access to medications, and upfront pricing.
