A small gesture with a big impact. Over the past few weeks, our team has been doodling away, making hand-drawn cards for local nonprofit, Portland Backpack! Portland Backpack provides food resources for kids in Oregon who are faced with food scarcity at home. One of these notes is tucked into every food sack to let the kids know someone's thinking of them and encouraging them. 💙

From receptionist to Chief People Officer: That's the story of our very own Karen Fogg! We couldn't be more proud of everything she has accomplished in her 29 years at Boly:Welch. It all started with a temp job we were looking to fill, but the adventure began in earnest when she filled in at our own front desk the next day. We haven't looked back since! Over the years, Karen (Kate to many) has worn several hats, serving as our Office Manager, HR Manager, and Director of HR & Operations before ultimately stepping into the role of Chief People Officer. She knows Boly:Welch inside and out. We couldn't imagine a more compassionate, insightful, and knowledgeable leader to drive our HR initiatives. Karen brings a personal touch to all she does, going above and beyond to support colleagues during challenging times, personally delivering food and flowers, and always being available to listen. Karen’s impact extends beyond Boly:Welch. She has been recognized within the Portland community, receiving an HR Leadership Award from the Portland Business Journal and sharing her expertise in webinars on the future of work. From sincere support to advocacy for belonging, Karen embodies the values that make our organization a truly special place to work. Her dedication to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture has made us who we are. Boly:Welch wouldn’t be the same without her presence and energy. Happy Anniversary, Karen!

Elizabeth Dewar, our Operations Manager, has been a core part of our team for six years, streamlining our internal operations to a point where we can’t imagine how we managed before! She’s also a dedicated supporter of our DEI committee, a mentor across all levels, and a big contributor to our events—like Spring Break (our annual employee appreciation week). Without Elizabeth's creativity and vision, Spring Break wouldn't be the same! She creates prototype designs that we use as a roadmap when decorating. It's an intricate process — think of creating a set design for a play! Whether she's improving a workflow for the team — or curling someone's hair before a networking event (or date), Elizabeth is always there to help. We are so grateful for everything Elizabeth does. Happy anniversary! 🎉
