About us
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) is the world's largest labor union organized by flight attendants for flight attendants. AFA represents nearly 60,000 flight attendants at 19 airlines, serving as a voice for flight attendants at their workplace, in the industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill. Simply put, the goal of flight attendants who become part of AFA-CWA is to negotiate better pay, benefits, working conditions and work rules at their airline, and to improve their safety on the job. AFA-CWA negotiates the best flight attendant contracts in the industry, maintaining and improving wages, benefits and working conditions for flight attendants. AFA-CWA has strength in numbers and a professional staff to assist flight attendants with workplace, career and interpersonal concerns. AFA-CWA is a democratic union representing flight attendants at every type of carrier. All AFA-CWA officers are flight attendants who solicit member input on policy and financial decisions. AFA-CWA is the only flight attendant union that solely represents flight attendants' concerns within the AFL-CIO, the 13-million-member American labor federation. AFA-CWA shares information and strategies, working in solidarity with flight attendant unions around the world through the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF).

Yesterday, AFA PSA and Air Wisconsin AFA Flight Attendants demonstrated at six airports as part of the first nationwide American Eagle Day of Action happening as the busy holiday travel season continues. PSA and Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants work flights branded as American but are paid on average 45% less than cabin crew directly employed by American. Flight Attendants are demanding management at regional airlines stop comparisons with other regional airlines and instead agree to the same new contract framework as American mainline — double digit pay increases, boarding pay, retro pay, and scheduling improvements. https://lnkd.in/e6q5_Cm7

December 17th is the first-ever American Eagle Day of Action! Flight Attendants from Air Wisconsin and PSA work flights branded as American, but are paid on average 45% less than cabin crew employed directly by American. Air Wisconsin and PSA Flight Attendants will join together to demand that regional airline management agree to the same contract framework as American mainline. (And all AFA members will join them as we fight the cruel tiers of aviation jobs.) That means double-digit pay increases, boarding pay, no concessions, retro pay, and scheduling improvements - along with other issues specific to each contract. Join our Air Wisconsin and PSA siblings at the following airports: CLT, DAY, DFW, ORD, PHL, and DCA. Human Rights Day is observed every year on December 10th — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The AFA mission statement defines our core value: “To promote economic and social justice for all workers through education and action.” Our commitment to equal treatment of all individuals, regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression is resolute. Our diversity is our greatest strength.

For too long bankruptcies have been used to cut contracts, jobs, & pensions, especially in the aviation industry. The Protecting Employees & Retirees in Business Bankruptcies Act is an important step towards protecting the workers who drive companies’ profits. "Bankruptcy should not be a “shrewd” business maneuver to slash jobs, dump earned pensions, and cut contracts while executives and Wall Street get rich with court approved payments and bonuses, " said AFA-CWA President Sara Nelson. "The Protecting Employees and Retirees in Business Bankruptcies Act will close loopholes in the bankruptcy process and protect the interests of the workers and retirees who make companies successful. This is one important step toward rebalancing our economy, and we urge Congress to pass it without delay." We applaud the introduction of The Protecting Employees & Retirees in Business Bankruptcies Act. https://lnkd.in/gxdPxC-q
