If you are considering donating to charities and relief efforts for those in need - such as after a hurricane - be mindful and do research before sending money. Scammers often take advantage of emotional situations by creating fake organizations or posing as real ones. In the days and months to come, there will be many posts surrounding the devastation following Hurricane Helene and it will become readily apparent that people want to help - need to help. Please Please be careful. Disaster fraud is real and there are bad actors out there who will take advantage of this. Before you donate, please do your research. The American Red Cross is always your safest bet, HOWEVER, there are plenty of other folks out there on the ground that need your help to get aid to the ones that need it - just make sure they are legit. According to the FTC, you can check on give.org, charitynavigator.org, charitywatch.org or guidestar.org.

The first time I moved to Florida in 2004, there were 3 #hurricanes that I experienced that year. I remember asking "is this normal?" Luckily it was not normal. But living back in Florida has me thinking about hurricanes again. Fortunately, SBP thinks about natural disasters all the time! Although they can't prevent them, they can help disaster survivors recover faster. They are a #nonprofit that was created after Hurricane Katrina, and have been working on ways to prepare communities inside and outside of New Orleans for disasters, and support them in the aftermath with home rebuilding. They have continuously improved their processes with the support of Toyota Motor Corporation and their #TSSC consultants. We recognized them for their efforts with the 2024 Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers "Excellence in Sustainable Development" award. A donation to SBP ensures that in the wake of the next disaster, impacted families can receive immediate assistance. #EFPRnonprofit: As we brace for what could be a busy season for tornadoes and hurricanes, disaster relief charities are on high alert. 🚨 But, before springing into action, it's crucial to brush up on the IRS rules for aiding victims. https://hubs.la/Q02wB2-60 #EFPRblog #DisasterRelief #CharityRules #EmergencyPreparedness

As you may have learned, the southern region of Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, has been experiencing catastrophic flooding. To the best of our knowledge, FICO colleagues and their families in Brazil are doing fine, but this disaster has already claimed dozens of lives and inflicted unprecedented devastation on more than 360 communities. The extent of the devastation is staggering and heartbreaking. To support the people of Brazil suffering from this tragedy, FICO is making a corporate cash contribution to the State Government of Rio Grande do Sul targeting relief efforts, announced today by our CEO Will Lansing. In addition, our team members in Latin America have launched a highly engaged FICO Cares donation drive, subject to corporate match, involving both cash and supply donations. Those interested in supporting the relief efforts can also directly contribute: https://lnkd.in/dC_jAB3k

We grow for good. It’s a core value at our company. We want to be the best, but we want to do a lot of good along the way. Watching this hurricane coverage? Worried about the people you know? What are you doing to help? There are plenty of amazing organizations out there, but the Guaranteed Rate Foundation will be matching every dollar donated with another dollar with 100% of the donations going directly to helping and rebuilding. All expenses of the foundation are covered by the company and all donations go directly to those who need it. You donate $100 and it automatically becomes $200 with the match. Can’t donate? First and foremost, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by Hurricane Helen. For those looking to help, please take this important step first: Verify that the organization you intend to donate to is legitimate. Many scammers exploit such crises to take advantage of generous donations. To confirm the credibility of a charity, visit these three websites: - IRS.gov - CharityNavigator.org - GuideStar.org These resources will give you the information you need. If the organization isn't well-known, take the time to research them before making a donation! #HurricaneHelen #DisasterRelief #SupportSurvivors #GiveBack #CharityCheck #HelpHurricaneVictims #DonorAwareness #LegitCharities #DisasterAid #CommunitySupport
