2025 - 2026 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS

Dear Member: 

Thank you for your interest in running for a position on the CAMFT Board of Directors. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your leadership services to CAMFT.    
NOTE: Deadline has been extended, for Pre-licensed applicants only, to November 11th at 5:00 pm.

ABOUT THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS 

Governing Board 

The CAMFT Board is a “governing” board. A governing board helps create the vision, mission, values, and policies for the organization and ensures that the principles and finances are properly respected. The Board, itself does not actively run programs and services.

OPEN POSITIONS FOR THE 2025-2026 CAMFT BOARD OF DIRECTORS 
Term of office begins June 1, 2025 for the following positions: 

ELIGIBILITY 
Per the CAMFT Bylaws, Article VI, Section C(2) and C(3), 

  • Clinical members who wish to be placed on the ballot by petition must have been a voting member of CAMFT for at least two years upon taking office, or must have been a Pre-Licensed member and voting member consecutively for at least two years immediately prior to taking office. 
  • No person shall serve on the Board for more than four consecutive years, except that a person who has served four years may run for President-Elect. 

BOARD MEMBER TIME COMMITMENT 
As a Board member, you will be expected to attend the following: 

  • Quarterly Meetings (Board meetings begin Saturday morning and end on Sunday afternoon. Board members arrive on the Friday evening prior to participate in “Meet & Greet" receptions with local Chapter leaders.)   
  • June 6-8, 2025 – Location TBD
  • September 12-14, 2025 –Location TBD 
  • December 5-7, 2025 – Location TBD
  • March 7-9, 2026 – Location TBD
  • CAMFT Fall Symposium 2025
  • 2026 Chapter Leadership Conference 
  • Sacramento Fly-In – Date TBD 
  • 2026 Annual Conference – Location TBD - Spring 2026
  • Board Orientation - Location TBD - Spring 2025, Spring 2026
  • Board Retreat - TBD

Additional time commitments include: 

  • Attendance at Chapter meetings, as needed
  • Attendance at special Board meetings, as needed
  • Interacting with the local offices of state and federal legislators to educate the legislators and staff about the work of LMFTs and CAMFT 
  • 2025 Annual Conference (Incoming Board members are eligible to receive complimentary registration but are responsible for all other associated expenses, as term of office does not begin until June 1, 2025.

Board members are reimbursed for attendance at events per the CAMFT Board and Committee Reimbursement Policy . 

BOARD MEMBER CONSENT FORMS 
Each Board member is expected to adhere to and sign the following:

Click hereto download the 2025-2026 Board Application packet.  Full and complete applications, including references and resume, must be received by the CAMFT Administrative office by 4:30 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024. NOTE: Deadline has been extended, for Pre-licensed applicants only, to November 11th at 5:00 pm.

Interview 

The Nominations Committee shall hold two (2) face-to-face meetings to interview candidates:

Interviews will be conducted in person; however, accommodations can be made upon request for an interview to be conducted virtually via zoom under special circumstances or for specific needs. Accessibility accommodations, or other areas may be provided relating to mobility, hearing, vision, or other needs. We ask that requests for reasonable accommodations be made as early as possible, as onsite resources may be limited. The slate of candidates will be selected following completion of these interviews. 

Petition Process 
If you wish to have your name on the ballot by petition instead of nomination, please follow these guidelines: 

  • Petitions with all signatures must be submitted to the CAMFT Administrative office by 4:30 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. 
  • Validity of signatures 
  • All signatures on petitions must have been obtained between April 1, 2024 and January 14, 2025 to be valid.
  • Clinical members must submit a petition with a minimum of 473 signatures. (This number represents 2% of the applicable voting membership on April 1, 2024.)
  • Pre-Licensed members must submit a petition with a minimum of 222 signatures. (This number represents 2% of the applicable voting membership on April 1, 2024.)
  • Eligibility
