A great meeting experience is one that allows everyone to fully participate, whether they’re in the conference room or joining remotely. Ideally, we all have a clear understanding of the meeting’s objective, have access to the same collaboration tools, and walk away with a clear action plan and timeline. For me, that’s meeting nirvana.

To help make meetings better, we’ve launched more than 100 features in Meet over the last two years, including hand-raise, polls, Q&A, translated captions, breakout rooms, and Jamboard app integration. These new Meet features are designed to make great, inclusive meetings the standard, not the exception.

Today we’ve achieved another milestone in helping to create great meetings: the general availability of a new integration between Google Meet and Miro, a third-party online collaborative whiteboarding app.

Launching Miro in Meet

Miro and Meet

Miro boards provide a rich set of visual tools that can facilitate brainstorming, ideation, planning and collaboration right from the Meet Activities panel. You can create a new board, continue to iterate on an existing one, or pull up the one you’ve attached to your meeting invite. You don’t even need a Miro account—guest access will allow you to start a board and save it for up to 24 hours.

Collaborating on a Miro board during a Meet call

Once you select a board, Miro launches and you’ll see all meeting participants and Meet features available in the side panel. You can chat, hand-raise, participate in polls, and use all the Meet features you love, all without having to navigate away from Miro.

Personally, I love the synchronous nature of Miro in Meet, which lets everyone fully and securely participate in real time, from anywhere. It’s an example of people-first collaboration fueled by a cloud-first approach that Google Workspace users have come to expect from our tools.

Extending Google Meet

Miro is another step in extending the power of Google Meet with third-party solutions. Over the coming quarters, we will bring Meet into many of the collaboration and productivity tools that you already use every day. Our goal is to bring powerful collaboration experiences into the places your teams are already working together—reducing context switching—so they can create and achieve more together.
