SIGN UPWe recently announced that we’re making the Gemini app* — with enterprise data protections — part of more Google Workspace plans, empowering millions of Workspace customers to access the benefits and possibilities of AI. With this rollout, employees from across your organization can experience generative AI firsthand, securely and confidently, to quickly answer questions, kickstart research, or brainstorm new ideas — and all of it is grounded in Google Search.
Today, we’re announcing several new features that will be rolling out over the coming weeks that enable users and organizations to deepen their usage of Gemini:
When building custom Gems**, you can now reference Google Drive and/or uploaded files.
Gemini for Workspace add-on subscribers will have a series of premade Gems that are specific to business uses.
Users will be able to log into the standalone Gemini mobile experience with their Workspace accounts.
Organizations can now control data retention limits, and take advantage of new compliance certifications.
Building custom Gems with deeper knowledge
Since launching in August, Gems — customized versions of Gemini that help you tackle repetitive tasks or get deep expertise in new areas — have been one of the most used Gemini Advanced features. Users have turned Gems into translators, prompt engineers, math tutors, and copywriters. Starting today, one of our most requested Gems features, the ability to reference a set of files, is rolling out to all subscribers of Gemini Advanced (included in a Gemini for Google Workspace plan).
You'll now be able to upload up to 10 files when creating a custom Gem, leveraging the same file types and sizes as the Doc Upload feature, including referencing Google Drive. Adding files will give your Gems even more context to provide insightful and helpful responses. When referencing files from Drive, Gems use the most recent version of that file so it’s always up-to-date. Some examples we’re seeing in early testing include a brand guidelines Gem that references a company brand playbook or an interview coach Gem that references a user’s resume and a job description.
New premade Gems for business
Premade Gems are a great way to drive more impact with AI. As ready-to-use solutions, Gems not only provide immediate value but also serve as inspiration for creating your own custom Gems. Gemini for Workspace subscribers will soon have access to six new premade Gems targeting business use cases:
Marketing insights can help marketers focus on tasks such as calculating customer acquisition cost or leveraging historical data to forecast future behavior.
Sales pitch ideator can help sales teams create compelling pitch materials to drive conversions.
Hiring consultant can help hiring teams create consistent job descriptions or interview questions.
Outreach specialist can help sales and customer support teams to craft personalized messages to customers.
Copy creator can help marketing teams write compelling on-brand content.
Sentiment analyzer can help customer-facing teams analyze feedback and reveal sentiment trends over time.
These premade Gems are optimized to help business users take on role-specific tasks to accelerate their workplace productivity.
Get work done on the go
Rolling out over the coming weeks, business users can log in with their Google Workspace account to use the Gemini mobile app on Android. This will enable users to do research or find quick answers while on the go. And with the unique form factor of mobile, users are able to unlock the multi-modal capabilities of Gemini. For example, take pictures of handwritten notes and export them into Google Docs or Gmail, or create presentation-ready visualizations of a chart that was drawn on a whiteboard, all with the enterprise data protections Google Workspace customers are accustomed to.
Improved admin controls and expanded compliance
We’re empowering administrators with enhanced controls and expanded compliance, giving you greater confidence in deploying the Gemini app across your organization. Easily set data retention windows to meet your specific needs and benefit from our growing list of compliance certifications, including HIPAA, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, and ISO 9001–all slated for completion within the next month. These robust security measures ensure your data remains protected and compliant, allowing you to focus on what matters most: driving innovation and productivity with the power of AI.
