IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of ICT suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor’s position within a given market. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market and business execution in the short-term. The Strategy score measures alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe. Vendor market share is represented by the size of the icons.

We believe this recognition validates the power and performance of Google Workspace, and it showcases how we’re  leading the way to help businesses and organizations of all sizes fuel collaboration. The IDC MarketScape's observations of Google drew on customer feedback and highlighted the following differentiated portfolio strengths that allow organizations to streamline document management, content services, collaboration, and workflows:

  • AI/ML: Google's research organization is driving innovative large language models and AI enhancements to improve content discovery, management, and security. Early access to Google's own AI models provides Google with a competitive advantage, especially around data extraction, document understanding, and data analytics use cases. Google continues to invest in critical generative AI multimodal models, which can be used across use cases, especially those that require IDP.

  • Scalability: Google Workspace and Drive are highly scalable, cloud-based platforms, with global endpoints and broad language support. Google Workspace and Drive are run on Google's global infrastructure in 40 regions, 100 zones, and over 200 countries and territories. They are multi-tenant for infrastructure and the application and database layers. Workspace can access data stored in other cloud providers like AWS S3 buckets or Microsoft Azure Blob storage. Google Workspace offers tools for users to monitor and manage cloud storage space and options for access, archival, and retrieval.

  • Integrations: Workspace and Drive are cloud first and offer a number of integrations to the expansive suite of Google products for authoring, collaboration, and analytics. The Office 365 suite of productivity tools can also be integrated with Drive and Workspace. Google also integrates with over 750 third-party applications including ECM, collaboration, workflow, and line-of-business (LOB)/industry-specific point solutions. The Google Workspace Marketplace offers over 5,000 apps and business tools, many of which are use case specific.

The IDC MarketScape notes, “Organizations of any size should consider Google's broad portfolio of content capabilities and services to process, understand, analyze, and store content for a broad range of use cases. Google Cloud Platform is the foundation of Workspace and Drive, and investment in cutting-edge and applied technology research enables Google to be at the forefront of applying GenAI and LLMs to content services. Google's scalability and pace of innovation remains noteworthy, and its customers and partners look to the provider to utilize a technology-first approach to expand collaboration.”
