🌟How has your network helped spark new ideas? 🌟 This week has been about connecting with new people and reigniting relationships with familiar faces. From The Crafty Jar in Stourbridge, hosted by Talbots Law, to Five Alive Networking at Stourbridge Golf Club (thanks to Kevin Cox), and finally, Non League Networking at Stourbridge FC (brilliantly hosted by Emma Cromarty MCIPD), it’s been a whirlwind of energy, ideas, and inspiration. What stood out to me in every conversation was how collaboration fuels success and how curiosity drives us to keep learning and growing. It was great to reconnect with familiar faces like Lisa Tighe, ★Ian Preston★, Paul Lawrence, Nicola Harrop, Sophie Murcott, Andy Jones, Carl Morgan, David Hadley, Jo Mason, Richard Powell, Ismaeel (Ishy) Dillon, Marie Jenkins, Michael Skirving, Jaki Lewis-Thompson, Neil Shakespeare, Tony Seaton, and Chris Livesley—while also expanding my network with new connections who will no doubt inspire future opportunities. Something I'm learning: Getting comfy with 'planning' in a constantly evolving environment is both challenging and crucial. Here's why it matters: 1. Team security: a plan provides a framework that helps the team feel grounded and focused, even if circumstances are likely to shift. 2. Locating the 'starting line': with a plan in place, we know where to start - even if we don't know where (or how far) the 'finish line' is. 3. Collaborator alignment: by documenting and sharing a plan with the rest of the company, we can spark conversations that promote clarity. We will plan, and the plan will change. We need to be comfortable with that. This mindset is important because: - Each school and community has unique needs and constraints that may only become apparent as we implement. - Student needs and educational/political landscapes can shift. - New research may open up unforeseen opportunities. By embracing both structure and flexibility in our planning processes, we can create roadmaps that guide us while allowing for the adaptability needed to truly serve our users and, ultimately, support student wellbeing.
