Google Consent Mode v2 I have seen a lot of posts recently around website traffic being low and as we talk about data and setting up tools like GA4 within our SEO group program I wanted to chat with you today about Google's update. On the 6th of March Google made an update called Consent Mode v2, which is a framework designed to integrate website visitor consent preferences with Google's advertising and analytics tools It's been over a month since the mandatory implementation date for Google Consent Mode v2, and if you haven't already set it up on your website, now's the time to take action! 9 years of SEO for 100s of clients has taught me this... The easy part is finding optimisations. The hard part = 🎯  Prioritising work against wider business goals 🙏  Getting buy-in from the leadership team 👨‍🏫  Educating stakeholders on modern SEO 💰  Securing enough budget to get results 📈  Measurement/tracking to show ROI Knowing what optimisations to make is the tip of the iceberg. Actioning them in a busy organisation with limited resources is the hard part. A great SEO strategy will factor in these five key things. Explaining clearly how some seemingly random optimisations will improve traffic and get results. This helps the wider company see the value and benefit to them. And everyone gets behind and supports your suggestions. Without this, your SEO efforts will fail.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a long game For a small growing business, would it be worth investing in, you may be thinking? The answer is, it depends 🤷‍♀️ It depends if... 1) the website you have is user friendly and technically robust - no point doing SEO on a site that isn't fit for purpose 2) you've researched keywords and know there's a demand for them - knowing your audience, where they hang out and how they buy is key 3) most importantly, are you willing to play the long game, or are you looking for quick wins, if there are? It won't help to jump into taking SEO actions, such as tagging your own web pages, without first considering 1) and 2). And if you don't have 3) then SEO isn't for you. The JBH Link Mapping Tool. Looking at a spreadsheet of links can be super challenging. It's all data and numbers. But... When you visualise things, it looks very different. We built this as part of our internal tool stack, and I use it in all SEO strategies for clients. I can quickly zoom in and see any link, look at pages where links are clustered and identify areas where more links are needed. It is also super helpful for identifying sites with spammy links that are likely to be devalued or are causing issues. This is a new SEO client and has done quite well building its brand and has some solid brand mentions and links, despite only having a DR 23 score. It's just one of the many internal tools we've developed. This is one of my favourites because it makes my life as an SEO so easy. I can identify a website's link distribution in a clean visual in seconds. My question...is this something you'd like access to?

Advertising just works - long story short there are more businesses who can benefit from better advertising through digital channels. They just don’t know how to put the systems, resources and people in place to deliver. Techy PPC stuff aside you need to know what your LTV or / AOV is per customer (net) and work on a channel to repeatedly acquire new customers profitably (or even at a small loss if needed). Then steadily grow that channel or add more. Yes channels complement each other but the main thing is Do more and do better. One of our clients wanted to take his offline business - online but with anew brand, new domain 0 customers in a really competitive market. No brand search, previous sales data or repeat customers to bank on. I wanted to share this because as optimistic as I am we had planned to be a little bit behind this at this point(ad spend is relatively small at this early stage). Still have a long long way to go but worth it. In this case we’re using a mix of pmax and standard shopping. I’m not 100% happy and still building. Also Attribution is a bit painful (both inGA4 & in platform) but we know ads are driving sales and are growing month on month. Client is happy so we get to eat our pot noodles next week 😊

If you're a new ecom brand and you want to leverage email straight away, do this... 1. Get Klaviyo & sync it to your store 2. Create a popup with an offer for email. 10%, free shipping etc 3. Build a welcome flow with 3/4 emails sharing your offer and letting people know why they should buy from you. Add social proof where you can. 4. Build a 3 email abandoned checkout flow that subtly reminds people to buy and add an offer around email 2-3 5. Don't do anything else until you're at $10k a month in overall sales.

so we just booked 22 calls in the last 7 days at my agency but if you run an agency you should NEVER obsess over the number of booked calls to some extent it's a vanity metric it only makes sense to book a lot of calls when they are qualified, show up rate is high and they're actual potential buyers I'd rather book 5 warm calls from YouTube and close 3 clients then flex booking 50 unqualified cold calls only to waste 50 hours of my life and close 5 of them want to learn how I use YouTube to nurture and pre-close our sales calls? comment or DM me "YouTube" and I'll send you a video training

Bing Ads are sunsetting manual CPC bid strategy and defaulting to enhanced CPC as of 30th April. If you're keen to keep your CPC below a certain level, your base bids will still be honoured. Don’t usually see Bing make a move like this before Google! Interesting

If your marketing sucks - take a peek at your strategy. Are you heavy into PPC, SEO or other search marketing? Please don't think of me as being 100% anti-search. (I’m like 42% anti-search) But I’m definitely against one tactic taking up the majority of your budget. Unless that budget covers multiple channels - like a good marketing strategy should. Nas only needs One Mic, But your marketing requires multiple channels, with attention to the mindset of the users in each one. Below is a little ditty about search and how it feels like hide-and-seek to me. If you’re spending more than $3k/mo on search, look at these results your generating: ⚔️ % of no-shows ⚔️ Clicks vs patient appointments ⚔️ Patient quality When you identify and target the people most likely to need your services and communicate with them directly, your results will always be better. This site is an extremely interesting case. Brand in the finance sector. Destroyed by the HCU update 2023. Backlinks from digital PR (and paid links), albeit some of the digital PR ones are totally off-topic, and some look like paid DPR placements. The site increased its content by 1000 pages in a year, so I suggest that it might have used AI content to scale. The site is well-designed, with lots of E-E-A-T elements. My gut says this site was hit by multiple factors: a bit of waffly content, some link devaluation, and AI content. It looks like they've deleted over 1000 pages a matter of weeks after being hit, so perhaps they took a chance. An interesting case, might reach out to the owners of this one.
