The findings from this article in TES are based on data from the UK Millennium Cohort Study, which tracks the lives of young people born in 2000-02. The study examined GCSE performance while accounting for factors like family income, parental occupation, and home ownership. Core Subjects Performance: Private school students in England no longer outperform state school students in GCSEs for English, maths, and science when results are adjusted for socioeconomic background. State school students actually perform better in these core subjects. Creative Arts Subjects: Despite the gap closing in core subjects, private school students continue to achieve higher results in creative arts subjects like music, drama, and art, even after adjusting for socioeconomic background. According to the latest European Living Investor Survey by Savills Research and Savills Investment Management, Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) is experiencing significant growth. 👉 Investment in Living and Hotels sectors has grown from 23% in 2014 to 33% in 2023, with PBSA being a major focus. 👉 Students are leaning towards PBSA (49%) while Co-living also remains a viable option. 👉 A substantial €12.1bn is expected to be invested in PBSA over the next three years, indicating strong future growth. However, Co-living is often considered for its flexibility and a community-focused environment remains strong.
