Has anyone noticed that generic AI models appear to have a very large, albeit artificial ego? And that outputs can be general, conceptual and on close examination quite vague? Experienced teachers are I believe realising this. Worryingly new teachers, lacking the experience and vocabulary needed to question what they are looking at can’t. This, then, was the challenge we sought to overcome and, not being first out the gate meant we were able to compare 22 earlier models to help inform the creation of the HOW2 AI Assistant. The CASE Journal is pleased to partner with the CASE Association to produce this special issue of research articles on the teaching case method. This special issue aims to produce a series of best-practice articles from educators successfully employing the case method within their classrooms. With new technologies and disruptive forces in the modern world, case teaching has become challenging both in-person and online. The case community has observed many educators describing challenging in-class experiences using cases for the first time. Furthermore, the educators experienced in case teaching have also described confronting various situations in their online and in-person classrooms for which they had to improvise various solutions. There is a pressing need for more resources with practical insights on this theme. This SI will offer a unique and valuable contribution to case literature by bridging the gap between theory and practice, enhancing educational experiences, and addressing the evolving needs of instructors in the classroom. Submissions should adhere to the topic of the special issue to be considered. Authors may be interested in the following potential and suggested themes: - Online case teaching - In-class case teaching - Multi-media case teaching - Innovative approaches to case teaching (gamification, interdisciplinarity, etc.) - Team methodology for case teaching - Individual methodology for case teaching - What not to do when teaching cases Submissions will be open globally. Authors are encouraged to reflect on the opportunity to examine the themes listed above through a variety of perspectives and contexts. Additional themes may be considered, but authors are encouraged to reach out to the TCJ team to ensure relevance before submission. By 2030, we need approximately 44 million primary and secondary teachers worldwide. This includes replacing over half of the existing teachers leaving the profession. What are some ideas for addressing teacher shortages? When I have asked this question I usually hear: better pay, improve working conditions and provide professional autonomy. France improved teacher working conditions with salary raises and career development opportunities. What can we do in England? Please share your ideas in the comments below.
