I am always surprised by the amounts businesses pay for marketing and advertising... and sponsorship or advertising with a football club has never been a consideration! Even a club like ours, we can deliver an audience in the millions for what is on paper a very small investment! Sport is often either not thought about when choosing a method or too expensive, as it is only the the "big" clubs who can deliver the audience required! This is an iconic deal in the landscape of English cricket and possibly world cricket. GMR Group and Hampshire County Cricket Club and its assets, currently owned by Rod Bransgrove, have agreed to an aquistion! Rod has been such a huge contributor to the game in the UK. I personally think this deal will be the catalyst to opening the gates to further Indian investment into English cricket (not new news) which points towards a bigger holistic future of players being centrally contracted by franchises (not countries). 🌟 Celebrating 6 Years with Connected Kerb 🌟 Today marks six years since I joined Connected Kerb the leading public EV charging infrastructure company, and what a journey it’s been! 🚗⚡ When I transitioned from a 15-year professional rugby career into the business world via a detour into reality tv, I knew the challenges would be immense. Many of us retired sportspeople face the tough question: What’s next? But I’ve been fortunate to draw on the knowledge and resilience gained over a lifetime in sport—lessons in teamwork, perseverance, and adapting under pressure—to grow as an individual and succeed in this next chapter of my life. In these six years, I’ve faced my own moments of imposter syndrome, but those same lessons taught me to push through. The company, too, has navigated its share of growing pains, from building credibility in a fast-moving industry to overcoming skepticism and negative press. In November last year we were awarded a grant from the Luton Airport Community trust fund. We’ve been able to purchase 2 de-fibs, one for each of our men’s and ladies playing sessions, new first aid kits some new Luton Town kit and pay for venue hire in order to fund free walking football sessions to introduce more adults to the sport and hopefully get them more active. There are a few walking versions of team sports, but they’re not particularly well known, promoted or even talked about. It occurs to me that maybe there should be some form of collective organisation that can umbrella all these activities together. Surely alternative exercise activities for us retired sportsmen and women is a good thing - right? Walking on a treadmill or Zumbering my butt off may be beneficial in terms of calories used, fitness and improved health, but where’s the fun you only get from playing team sports? The competitive edge, the cognitive decision making of should I pass the ball to Jeff or take a shot. The banter and laughs as you recall how your mis hit clearance sliced its way into goal - just not the right one! 🤦🏻 I know some of these exist - but all? Walking Basketball Walking Netball Walking Cricket (isn’t that normal cricket - asking for a friend) Walking Rugby (tag related) Walking Hockey There’s a lot of potential here to get older people back into team sport doing the things they once loved and reaping all those health and happy hormone benefits. Food for thought, maybe our next funding project.

Prescriptive coaching 🤔 I have worked in academy’s, have clients in academies and friends that work in academies. Why on earth are academies still saying that their playing style is same as the first team 🙈🙈 same formations, playing out from the back etc…. Why is this a problem - you are developing footballers not robots and: ⚽️ Managers are disposable in football, another manager can come in and completely change the philosophy yet all the academy players are still playing the old system. ⚽️ You have a different set of players for each age group, different needs, strengths, weaknesses and playing styles. ⚽️ The first team can buy players in that fit into there system of play. Academies don’t have this facility. ⚽️ The job of the academy is to allow players to explore different playing styles, positions, formations and allow them to deal with the environment more effectively not shoehorn them into one system. Obviously not all academies do this but there are still a lot that do. Is it lazy coaching, lack of knowledge, misunderstanding of skill acquisition 🤔
