Are you looking for a challenge to start the new year? 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ We have a few charity spaces left for the RunThrough Newcastle 10k that is taking place on 18th January! The run is a flat, scenic route along the iconic Newcastle Quayside and will be the perfect way to dust off the cobwebs and start 2025 in style. All runners who commit to raising £100 for the charity will receive a limited-edition t-shirt, a goodie bag, and support from our fundraising team to reach their target. Whether you are an elite athlete looking to crack your PB or a first-time runner, we will be cheering you on every step of the way. We loved attending the University of Sunderland Take25 Challenge celebration event. The grand total was an incredible £9,595.97 with winning team raising £1,701.83 - the highest individual team total in the challenge so far! Thank you again to Enterprise Mobility for sponsoring the challenge!

🎁 Let Christmas commence! 🎁 Starting today, all the way through to 3pm on Christmas Eve, the team at The Children's Foundation, along with a host of amazing volunteers, will be wrapping presents at the charity gift wrap stand in Eldon Square! If wrapping isn't your strong point, or you would just like to tick a Christmas job off the list while supporting a local charity, come down and see us near the entrance to Boots and Fenwicks in the mall. Last week the Prime Minister announced that one of the government's six key 'milestones' is that 75% of children will be ‘school-ready’ by 2028. This target of three in four reception pupils at a 'good' level of development is part of the government's education – or “opportunity” – mission is focused on giving children “the best start in life”. Our Baby Boxes are a practical and effective way of giving babies and families the best start in life. You can help us to get Baby Boxes into the hands of more first-time parents by choosing to donate this festive season ⭐ £5 will buy baby books. ⭐ £20 will buy a baby blanket, books, fitted sheets, and a thermometer. ⭐ £50 will buy a baby blanket, travel changing mat, bath towel, bath mitt, sensory toys, books, and a digital thermometer. ⭐ £250 will buy an entire baby box with a mattress, bedding, essentials, developmental toys, and books to get families started with baby care Help us to raise awareness about the impact that this project is making for families here in the region and beyond. https://lnkd.in/eGun6bZZ

The time to act is now! Yesterday our CEO Sean was part of the inspirational panel at the first North East Child Poverty Summit, which included hearing the voices of the young people themselves. We want to say thank you to Kim McGuinness and The North East Combined Authority for supporting our Baby Box. Yesterday we visited the business students at University of Sunderland who are taking part in the Take£25 challenge! It was great to see all of their different ideas on how to raise money for our work here at The Children's Foundation coming to life. Fundraising ideas ranged from bake sales, raffles, Nurf gun competitions and delicious samosas to Christmas stockings, advent calendars and handmade candles. 😃 This year's students look like they're on track to raise the highest total yet, and we can't wait see what they go on to achieve in the future.
