An exciting opportunity for Year 11 and 13 students or those in their final year of college. Join Siemens Mobility to gain an insight into the key work they do within the railway industry and to hear about the apprenticeship programmes they are offering from Summer 2025. Their open evening on 28th October is at their site in Chippenham, students can be accompanied by a parent to discover what an apprenticeship would look like for them. This event is designed for schools with large numbers of students who are underrepresented in engineering (such as girls studying A Level Maths). Curious about career options after school? Young people, parents and carers can find out more by watching the Your Choices virtual event hosted by the Swindon and Wiltshire Careers Hub. The session showcased post-16 and post-18 pathways, with education from local colleges, universities, and employers helping students explore their futures. Supported by the Council and Wiltshire Council, the Careers Hub collaborates with 58 schools and colleges to deliver high-quality career education. By connecting students with resources that meet the Gatsby Benchmarks and two employer networks, we’re helping young people make informed career choices. In line with the Swindon Plan's mission to Build a Fairer Swindon, this initiative contributes to reducing educational disparities and ensuring accessible learning for all. Hosting neurodiverse students and students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) brings many benefits in terms of an inclusive approach to talent and greater diversity in the organisation. There are some extra responsibilities for employers, but these are shared with the educational provider and should not be seen as a barrier to offering placements. This one-hour webinar demonstrates why employers benefit from hosting SEND and neurodiverse students. It also shows what these extra responsibilities are and how employers can meet them in collaboration with schools and colleges.
