Don't just take our word for it... Hear from Phoebe Gale, Social Value Manager at Tilbury Douglas, about the impact of our Employer Standards framework and self-assessment tool, helping employers raise the quality of their careers education outreach. Our data shows a common challenge for employers is around supporting young people to prepare for interview and application processes. To meet this need, we have worked with leading employers to develop a guide full of practical actions businesses can take to better support and prepare young people. The guide is only available to employers who’ve used our #EmployerStandards self-assessment so there’s never been a better time to start; the self-assessment is free, takes just 25 minutes and will give you instant results on how well you are delivering #careers education outreach. ➡️ Take the self-assessment today: https://bit.ly/4gFshqt Phoebe Gale Tilbury Douglas

Our pilot programme #StartSmallDreamBig helps primary pupils to: ⭐️ Develop key skills 💡 Broaden aspirations 👏 Challenge stereotypes Last week, primary pupils from heard from and took part in activities delivered by local employers which included a session on robotics, STEM, and the pathways into different careers in their sectors. Connecting primary schools with employers gives pupils the opportunity to meet people doing different jobs and see what the world of work is all about. As demand for skilled workers in engineering grows, too many young people are under-prepared for the transition from education to employment. Read a blog for EngineeringUK from our Senior Research and Insight Manager, Lucie, exploring the findings of our survey of nearly a quarter of a million young people: https://bit.ly/41rWOUa The results of the survey reveal critical gaps in career readiness, with disparities in confidence and access to opportunities disproportionately affecting girls and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Key insights from the survey: 🔑 Students often lack key social skills like teamwork and leadership. ⚙️ Only 5% of Year 11 girls show interest in engineering careers, compared to 22% of boys. ☑️ Early engagement, relatable role models, and employer partnerships are essential to inspire and equip the next generation. Employers in STEM have a unique opportunity to lead the charge in addressing these challenges. Through mentorship, hands-on projects, and collaboration with schools, we can demystify STEM careers and build a more diverse, confident workforce. Tell us what you think ⬇️ ✅ How can we improve career readiness for young people? ✅ What strategies have you seen work in increasing diversity in STEM?
