We have become the first Trust in the country to be recognised by NHS England as an exemplar organisation for sustainability in infection prevention and control (IPC) practices.🎉 This landmark achievement highlights our commitment to addressing climate change and promoting environmental sustainability, whilst continuing to provide safe and efficient patient care. This includes being one of the first organisations to achieve both the bronze and silver GreenED accreditations for sustainable practice in the Emergency Department, through measures including 40 per cent reduced cannulations, which equates to approximately the same amount of CO2e as nine flights between London and New York. ✈ Other initiatives include a ‘Gloves Off’ campaign in Critical Care to reduce unnecessary glove use, which has prevented around 1.6 tonnes of emissions, and the trialling of reusable tourniquets, each of which can prevent at least 10,000 disposable tourniquets from being used. ♻ Find out more and read the NHSE exemplar report: https://lnkd.in/esPtqKhy

We are searching for a Managing Director to join us at a pivotal and exciting moment in our journey as part of the BSW Hospitals Group, alongside the acute trusts in Bath and Salisbury. Together, we are transforming healthcare delivery — enhancing patient care, optimising resources, and setting a new standard for outstanding health services. As Managing Director, you will be at the helm of day-to-day operations at our Trust, responsible for leadership, management and performance. With over 5,500 skilled, compassionate and motivated staff, we are one of the region’s largest employers — a progressive foundation trust handling 1.2 million patient contacts and turning over £511 million every year. We’re seeking a leader who can build on our achievements and drive forward our ambitions for both the Trust and the wider BSW Hospitals Group. You’ll embody our values — service, teamwork, ambition, and respect — and bring a dynamic, forward-thinking approach to shaping the future of healthcare in our communities. Located in Swindon, our Trust thrives on collaboration, with strong partnerships and a commitment to addressing local needs. This is a remarkable opportunity to make a real difference reducing health inequalities, promoting opportunities, and improving both patient outcomes and staff experiences. Our Trust-wide approach to improvement - Improving Together – has been shortlisted in the HSJ Partnership Awards 🎉 We’ve been chosen as a finalist in the Best Contribution to Improving the Efficiency of NHS services category for the transformational work taking place across our hospital group with the Royal United Hospitals Bath and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with KPMG and Catalysis. Together the three trusts use Improving Together to explore opportunities to tackle inefficiencies, work smarter and share solutions, leading to positive changes which are improving the working lives of staff and the experience of patients. This achievement highlights the importance of Improving Together in giving the NHS a strong and consistent framework for how we approach problems, new ideas and areas for improvement. This is the second time Improving Together has been celebrated for its outstanding contribution to improving healthcare, with the staff-led approach also recognised in the prestigious HSJ Patient Safety Awards earlier in the year. Congratulations to all our amazing teams who have introduced Improving Together in their area! #hsjpartnershipawards #ImprovingTogether #GreatImprovements #QualityImprovement #Swindon

We are proud to have been nationally recognised for our nurse-led intravitreal injection service, which supports patients needing ophthalmology treatment. 👁 In half a day, one nurse can now perform 18 injections, around 80 per cent of all intravitreal injections, meaning that more patients can be seen quicker. Patients have reported improved satisfaction and a better patient journey too. Well done to the team who have been celebrated by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and to our four ophthalmologists who had their work published. 💙

Well done to Gemma Johnson, Staff Nurse for for Endoscopy and Sustainability Champion, for presenting at a Nursing and Midwifery Network hosted by NHS England, on the fantastic work her whole team are doing to reduce their carbon footprint.♻ The endoscopy team have been going green, by encouraging patients to bring in their own water bottles, reducing syringe use, replacing single-use plastic bags with reusable plastic tubs for patient items, recycling clinical metal items and encouraging staff to reduce paper usage. Looking ahead, the department is planning to digitise all patient leaflets, install motion sensor lights to reduce energy consumption and start a "Gloves Off" campaign to promote the responsible use of gloves.💚
