❗ The number of young drivers illegally using their phone to text, call, voice note or, shockingly, even video chat is at its highest rate in 8 years. People who drive for work may find themselves under pressure to multi-task, especially during the festive season rush. But it’s important to remember that managing these risks, in conjunction with often-tricky winter weather conditions, results in a safer environment for all road users. The UK's leading road safety charity, helping businesses create safer, more efficient drivers
About us
IAM RoadSmart is the new name for the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) as of 27 April 2016. IAM RoadSmart is the UK’s largest road safety charity with 60 years of history and over 70,000 members across the UK and Ireland. We are passionate about helping drivers and riders make safer, more economical and enjoyable journeys. We work with fleets to reduce their costs, risk and collisions, and to help them improve health and safety. Our driver trainers, all registered on the DSA Fleet Register, deliver cost-effective business driver training tailored to the needs of individual fleets and drivers. IAM RoadSmart fleet training empowers businesses to improve driver retention and productivity as well as helping to keep their drivers safe and happy. At IAM RoadSmart we familiarise drivers and riders with advanced vehicle technology such as driving aids and telematics, enhancing and supporting their skills and understanding of the technology's limitations. Our knowledge and experience means we also influence government policy through authoritative advice and research. We’ve helped nearly half a million drivers and riders improve their skills. At any one time there are more than 7,000 drivers and riders actively engaged with IAM RoadSmart courses, including individual and company drivers. Our Driver Retraining Academy has helped more than 5,000 people to reduce their driving ban through education and support. If you’re planning on drinking alcohol as part of your festive celebrations, be safe, and think about your journey home. Consuming alcohol and driving don’t mix and ruins lives. Nominate a designated driver, use public transport where possible, or taxi share. Our advice is to always stick with ‘none for the road'. ✨ We wish you a happy and safe festive season.

We all know that to keep and build our physical fitness we need to exercise regularly. We don't wait until we're injured to start and if we stop, we know our physical fitness will decline. No matter our path in life, our brain is our greatest tool to thrive. So, why don't we treat our mental fitness with the same proactive and preventative approach as our physical fitness? Enabling us to thrive through the challenges and opportunities of work and wider life. Great to join the IAM RoadSmart team off site last week to run The Mental Fitness Workout workshop. We guided through the 5 To Thrive evidence based tools and talked through the most important step... How we can integrate them into our busy days. Thanks to Nicola Smith, Antony Kildare and Sophie Knight for having me and for prioritising their team's greatest tool... their mental fitness! #mentalfitness #productivity
