Following a long history of delivering solutions for Cadbury using Microsoft Content Management Server, Big Group were tasked by Cadbury to take over their global site Cadbury.com. This site had been implemented by another supplier but was suffering from performance issues as well as numerous bugs. I was tasked with initially transferring the site to our development environment and auditing it. After the audit stage, I undertook an extensive list of bug fixes which then had to be deployed to production.

In order to address the issues with the site, my role involved :-

    1. Regular meetings with persons within Cadbury responsible for Brand, Promotions and Technical aspects of the business to discuss progress, new projects, technical requirements and on going issues.

    2. Hire and train personnel. In order to meet extra demand, I hand picked a team in India and trained them in Sharepoint development. They soon got up to speed and made a positive contribution to the development of various Cadbury projects. I managed this team on a daily basis and acted as a bridge between them and Cadbury as well as project managers within Big Group.

    3. Deploy enhancements, updates and fixes from dev to production.

    4. Analyse and fix performance issues on the live site. This included investigating configuration and optimisation techniques to speed up content delivery, load balancing and search optimisation.

    5. Liase with the hosting company to deploy sites and investigate any issues relating to site performance.

After the issues with Cadbury.com site had been successfully addressed, I undertook a migration program that involved reusing the existing site and repurposing it for international rollout across various regions (USA, Canada, South America, Spain). This challenge involved not only using the common Sharepoint framework that we had built up but also localising the sites that included making user controls and web parts locale sensitive.
