This week, Brazil's Minister for Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, conducted a highly engaging mission in London! 🇧🇷🤝🇬🇧 During her official visit, Minister Dweck met with the Parliamentary Secretaries, Georgia Gould MP and Feryal Clark MP. She also visited Chatham House, had discussions with academics and specialists, and had a meeting with Ambassador Antonio Patriota. These exchanges explored ways to deepen collaboration on digital government and responsible AI regulation, promoting innovation in the public sector and enhancing citizen-centred services. Brazil and the UK are well positioned to develop a robust partnership in the digital transformation of public services, with opportunities for knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and policy alignment. Through initiatives like gov.br —providing 156 million Brazilians with access to over 5,000 digital services— Brazil is already advancing accessible, efficient government services. By working together, Brazil and the UK can lay the groundwork for further advances on the horizon in digital governance and public sector innovation. Brazil and the UK sign groundbreaking agreement at G20 to strengthen exports On 23 October, during the course of a bilateral meeting of the G20 Trade and Investment Working Group, Brazil and the United Kingdom signed an unprecedented partnership agreement with a view to boosting international trade. The agreement was signed by the Brazilian Vice-President, Geraldo Alckmin; the UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds MP; and the President of the Brazilian Guarantees Agency, Maíra Madrid (ABGF - Agência Brasileira Gestora de Fundos Garantidores e Garantias). The agreement establishes broad collaboration for risk-sharing in exports with joint guarantees from both countries, through the Brazilian Export Credit Insurance (SCE) backed by the Export Guarantee Fund (FGE), and United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF). Products containing Brazilian and British components, such as Brazilian aircraft with British engines, will be able to count on more accessible and competitive export insurance. This partnership also promises to facilitate the financing of high value-added goods, as well as reducing risks for both sides. During the meeting, other topics were also discussed, such as decarbonisation, reduction of red tape, the role of women in international trade and the creation of the Single Foreign Trade Portal, which aims to simplify the export process. It was further agreed to hold a meeting of the Brazil-UK Joint Economic and Trade Committee (Jetco) next year, to mark the 200th anniversary of the trade relationship between the two countries. 🇧🇷🤝🇬🇧
