We know that winter can be a stressful time for businesses, with energy consumption increasing causing a spike in energy bills. It may be helpful to consider ways to decrease the impact of the cold weather on your energy consumption, that's why throughout winter we will be providing you with some helpful tips to support you in decreasing your energy usage. Knowing that a lot of premises will be emptier than usually over Christmas it is important to prepare your buildings as much as possible to increase energy efficiency over the break. Here are a few ways you can save energy by carrying out a pre-shutdown walkaround. -> Turn your lights off and close your windows. -> Power down your equipment rather than putting it on standby and unplug any non-essential electronics which can continue drawing power even when not being used. -> Change your thermostats to reduce heating and cooling while the office is empty.
