BEST OPTIMISER TWO MONTHS IN A ROW   Looking back on the past months, there’s a lot to celebrate for our battery optimisation team. First, they were nominated in the ‘Best Optimiser’ category at the inspiratia Europe Energy Transition Award and for the past two months, they were on top of the Modo Energy Leaderboard! Across September and October, the Zenobē-owned 50MW Wishaw battery outperformed the Modo average for a 2-hour battery by 33%. Wishaw imported more wind from the Balancing Mechanism, preventing the shutdown of wind turbines when there is too much electricity in the grid. Instead, we instructed the battery to store the excess power and be ready to export it when required, ensuring that wind power is not wasted. We are beyond happy to be working with Zenobe and to see our strategy succeed. The results are a true testament to our strong multi-market approach combined with our experienced trading setup. In a grid with increasing renewable energy generation, batteries are essential to support stability and the green transition, and we are proud to be contributing to a greener, fairer future. Working with our clients, we optimise assets across wholesale, ancillary services, and balancing markets, helping generate greater value for our BESS partners while supporting grid stability. Our trading teams are available 24/7, meaning we can quickly react and respond to market needs. Furthermore, we work with both battery owners and the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to overcome the challenges of congestion management, allowing for more efficient use of the grid. READY, SET, BUILD: VOLUNTEERING AT FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHALLENGE   Giving back to our communities is a core part of the Centrica culture. We have made a pledge to give 100,000 volunteer days by 2030, and to drive this agenda, all employees are given 15 hours of paid time off every year to volunteer for good causes.   Recently, a group of our Energy Movers volunteered at the local First LEGO League Challenge in Northern Denmark, and they had an absolute blast at the event!   First LEGO League Challenge is a global competition that allows children to dive into the excitement of STEM, and in a series of local, national, and global tournaments, more than 600,000 children compete in robot building, coding, and innovation.   At the local challenge in Northern Denmark, some our people assisted the organisers in facilitating the event while others volunteered as judges within both innovation and technology – and sometimes, it was hard to tell who was most excited to see the robots; the children or our Energy Movers.   The future of the green transition relies heavily on the curiosity of the talents of tomorrow: Children and young people. We are excited to get a chance to show them the opportunities and adventures of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and we are fully committed and truly proud to support our Energy Movers in giving back to our communities.   #CentricaEnergy #EnergyMoversByNature #EnergisingAGreenerFairerFuture

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED ABOUT BATTERIES, AND WHAT'S NEXT?   What are the main learnings from BESS optimisation across markets, and what implications does this pose for the Danish market?   These are some of the questions our Head of Optimisation Portfolio Management, Mikkel Hesselbæk, addressed during his presentation at the Green Power Denmark theme day on electricity storage.   Mikkel began by explaining that, until recently, BESS optimisation has been relatively straightforward, primarily driven by high prices for FCR-D in the Nordics. However, with the recent decline in FCR-D prices, the business case and investment appetite for BESS has become more challenging and will require optimisation across all markets.   But what exactly does optimisation across all markets mean? Centrica Energy’s multi-market optimisation strategy means that we make battery assets available across ancillary service, day-ahead, and intraday markets, which provides the optionality needed to maximise battery revenues. However, as prices in different markets also influence each other, the complexity becomes incredibly steep whilst the quality of price, production, and weather forecasts becomes critical.   Given these market developments, we anticipate that the newly opened aFRR market will hold greater value in the future. At Centrica Energy, we are actively participating in the aFRR market and are seeing very positive results for our clients. Additionally, we have extensive experience with cross-market optimisation in the UK, Belgium, and the Nordics.   If you want to learn more about our views and services in optimisation, flexibility, and aFRR, feel free to reach out to Mikkel at [email protected] or Frank ten Voorde at [email protected]   #CentricaEnergy #EnergyMoversByNature #EnergisingAGreenerFairerFuture

ZOOMING IN ON LNG! DID YOU KNOW…   That an LNG vessel is the length of two football fields? Or that Centrica Energy trades LNG cargoes equivalent to the energy consumption of 20 million households in a year? We know – that’s a lot of energy. But why is LNG such an important part of the energy ecosystem? We caught up with Arturo Gallego, Global Head of LNG in the Centrica Energy LNG team, to learn more. Here are Arturo’s thoughts 👇   “LNG – or liquefied natural gas – will play a critical role in the global energy complex for years to come, as it enables energy-dependent regions of the world to secure reliable energy supplies when other options are unavailable or unaffordable. There are many reasons for this: → Because LNG is a gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, it can be transported by ship. This creates an opportunity to transport LNG to regions that lack pipeline infrastructure. → With LNG, countries can diversify their energy sources and minimise their reliance on a single energy source. This is particularly important in the current geopolitical environment. → Compared to other fossil fuels like coal and oil, LNG has a cleaner burn, making it a more sustainable solution to fuel the many processes still dependent on gas.   As the energy transition gathers pace, we are also positioning ourselves to make the most of our proven LNG capabilities to build new international value chains for low-carbon fuels. Today, that means looking at entering markets for low-carbon ammonia – a product made as a derivative of low-carbon hydrogen, that’s simpler to transport and combustible as a fuel with zero carbon emissions.”   If you want to learn more about our LNG business, reach out to [email protected]   #CentricaEnergy #EnergyMoversByNature #EnergisingAGreenerFairerFuture

INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEES: FUEL FOR THE GREEN TRANSITION This week, our Aalborg office had the pleasure of hosting the BusinessBoost event arranged by International House North Denmark. We regularly work with International House when recruiting international employees to our office in Aalborg, and with the event focusing on the attraction and retention of international employees, it was a full-circle experience. The agenda was packed with insightful speakers, and we had the privilege of having our Centrica Energy People Director, Aki Danmark Palikaras, take the stage as well. Aki introduced Centrica Energy’s talent attraction and retention strategies with a focus on our Aalborg location, in the Northern Region of Denmark. As the green energy industry has a high demand for specialists, there is often a need to recruit great talent from abroad. Thus, a well-functioning talent attraction and retention strategy supports the overall growth and expansion of the green energy industry within the Northern Region of Denmark. While Aki presented some of the many activities Centrica Energy undertakes to make the workplace a Great Place to Work, he also highlighted how important it is that the Northern Region of Denmark continues to expand its attractive offerings to highly skilled international workers, who, in return, support the further expansion of the green energy industry within the region. Access to an international school will play an important part, as will continued investment in infrastructure like Aalborg Airport. Furthermore, a continued focus on attracting large international organisations to the region will further foster international career opportunities for those who have relocated to the region and for local talent who seek international experience. In support of this messaging, Centrica Energy has donated 5 million DKK to the International School in Aalborg to support its further expansion. EVOLVING OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH COTERRA We’re very pleased to announce signing of natural gas sale and purchase agreements with Coterra Energy who will supply 100,000 MMbtu/d of natural gas linked to European gas prices such as TTF and NBP, for a period of 10 years, commencing in 2028. This major gas deal reduces the market risk in Centrica’s LNG portfolio. Commenting on the agreement, our Managing Director Cassim Mangerah said: “Such agreements exemplify why we refer to ourselves as Energy Movers. LNG will play a crucial role in the global energy transition for years to come. We remain committed to leveraging our worldwide value proposition to expand our LNG portfolio, ensuring movement of competitive and dependable energy supplies when alternative sources are either scarce or more costly.” We also caught a comment from Arturo Gallego, VP Global Head of LNG who said: “Working with Coterra on this agreement has demonstrated the true value in our collaborative approach, matching our needs and strengths to extend our existing valued partnership. This agreement is a key element in managing our risk exposure in our LNG portfolio, and underlines Centrica’s global role in supporting energy security”. EXPANDING AALBORG’S INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL How important is an international school for your decision to live, work, and potentially move your family to a new country? Asking current and prospective employees, the answer is clear: it can be a deal-breaker. So, we decided to do something about it. At Centrica Energy we are dedicated to supporting our local communities and Aalborg’s development towards an international city – that’s why we are happy to announce a donation of 5m DKK over 5-years to Northern Jutlands only international school – Skipper Clement Skolen. “We’re an international business that trades across international markets, delivering on one of the most important global priorities: decarbonising energy and delivering on the green transition. To succeed with that, it’s critical that we can attract and retain the best and brightest talents and specialists from across the globe” said Nanna Damgaard Glad, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer. In August, Skipper Clement school increased the number of international school placements from 220 to 240 – but the ambition is to raise this number to 440. “It’s clear that Aalborg having a strong international school with available spots is very important for both current and future employees joining us from around the world. Being able to provide a well-rounded package for families is critical for their appetite to relocate to Aalborg, so we’re very excited to strengthen that offer through the expansion of Skipper Clement school’s international department.” said Nanna.
