I'm learning how to be unapologetically black at work (And it's really tough...) I've spent the last few years at university in an environment where diversity is limited. And I started to make myself small, which can be especially easy to do as a junior and woman in the industry. Conforming and holding back. Holding my breath waiting for a negative reaction. The truth is I love bold accessories. I love to make black twitter references even if no one else in the room gets them. I love to read rom-coms and listen to rap, pop and random folksy songs. I've pushed myself out of my comfort zone and found I love to wear a pop of colour. I'm loving being 20 and learning who I am 🥹 And what it means to show up an apologetically black, and unapologetically me. Whether that's in a meeting or just in small talk. I love where I work, the culture and the people. But it can be hard as a junior or new at work. So, I remind myself, and you should too: - Black is not a monolith. - You are not a monolith. - Sometimes your truth will make others uncomfortable, and that's perfectly fine. 📌 SIDE NOTE: Share what helps you show up at work as you 💜 (Special shout-out to B-DigitalUK for helping me on this journey!!)

Hello lovely people, I just wanted to take a moment to reach out to you all, especially those in the US, in light of the recent election results. With Trump winning the presidency again, I know this is a deeply unsettling time for many of you, particularly as Black men and women who have long had to navigate a system that doesn’t always value or protect you. It’s beyond disheartening to see a man with a history of allegations—and even a conviction—of sexual assault and rape take leadership of one of the most powerful countries in the world. This result is a stark reminder of the ongoing threats to women’s rights, and the specific risks faced by Black communities, from police brutality to systemic discrimination that never seems to relent. Please remember to prioritise your well-being. Take time away from the news if you need it, lean on each other and this community, and know that your strength and resilience are seen and honoured. We’re here to hold space for you, and there’s no need to carry all of this alone. Let’s continue to uplift one another, support one another, and remember that there’s power in community—even in times like these. Take it easy on yourselves, and let’s keep these conversations going.
