This morning, I was at the launch of Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government's renewed partnership with Massachusetts Institute of Technology ’s Industrial Liaison Program at Sbarc 🚀 Key takeaway from Phil Budden: place-based innovation matters. For Wales to thrive, we need spaces where entrepreneurs can connect, build confidence, and innovate – "because entrepreneurship is a contact sport". But that's not all... in Valleys communities like ours, this needs to be supported with work around mindset development, and delivered by members of these communities themselves - who are relatable role models and mentors to others. At Welsh ICE , this is what we do! So this morning's event was fantastic for perspective following such a busy period of delivery. It was extra relevant following the finale of our Treorchy Hackathon last night at Cwm Farm Shop , where local businesses came together to come up with real innovative ideas to local business challenges. The bigger challenge?... Wales needs more risk capital and even bolder collaboration to seriously unlock its potential. With the right ecosystems in place, it is possible that we can turn ideas into genuine impact and lift the economy! 🌟 #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #Wales #MITILP #WelshICE Matt Collins Steve Whittaker Georgina Moorcroft Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd Development Bank of Wales Angels Invest Wales Innovate UK Cardiff Capital Region Kate Breeze Simon Gale Simone Devinett Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE Gareth I.
