🏴 CELEBRATING ENTREPRENEURIAL SUCCESS: KAYDIAR 🌟 The Welsh start-up ecosystem is flourishing, driven by an exceptional pool of talent, vibrant networks, and a wealth of support from dedicated stakeholders. Among these is GlobalWelsh, which not only connects entrepreneurs to resources within Wales but also taps into support from the Welsh diaspora beyond its borders. Few have benefited more from this unique combination than Kaydiar Limited, a rising start-up propelled not by handouts but by the vision and tenacity of its two young founders, David Barton and Heather Smart. As we celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, it’s a fitting time to spotlight their journey—and the critical support that GlobalWelsh and the network have provided along the way. It's a great start to the week for us all as we announce our investment in Kaydiar, a Welsh business using pioneering technologies to create an innovative range of footcare products. Kaydiar was set up in 2018 as an ambitious spin-out from Cardiff Metropolitan University, focusing on improving foot care by using emerging technology to help relieve pressure lesions and similar sores. The £1.2million investment round includes £210,000 from our members and the Angel Co-Investment Fund, £200,000 from Development Bank of Wales and £100,000 from University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The business was also supported by grant funding, including grant funding of £450,000 from Innovate UK and £200,000 from Welsh Government. https://lnkd.in/eYwBQ3hb
