I don’t need to use ppt for this session…..2018, after going through my SPIN selling concept presentation and session design, my facilitator friend Mrunal Lamge ( PCC , CPF) asked a question - Would you like to EXPERIMENT and EXPERIENCE a new approach to your training? With little hesitance, I agreed. Then he shared a process and briefed me on the approach to run the process with the sales team. Instead of delivering the content and having interaction, the process facilitation guides the participants to dissect the concept through participation and recreate the content. After completing the session, I had experienced two outcomes: 1.      The learning was experiential. 2.      Healthy participation. Then, up-skilled as a facilitator in TISS, Mumbai in 2018. Applied the #facilitation skill in all the workshops for sales, non -sales and leaders. Integrated #softskills into technical #learning. I experienced the change in me, when i facilitate, and i saw the change it created for people & organization, and i truly believe Facilitation is a Gift to make the World a better place. Unleashing leadership potential with CliftonStrengths. Had an incredible day facilitating The Young Business Leaders Network CliftonStrengths Leadership workshop at Singapore Business Federation, focused on self-awareness, strength-based leadership, emotional awareness and building confidence through strengths. It was a highly engaging session with a team of young CEOs, MDs, and Business Leaders. We delved into individual CliftonStrengths® assessment, empowering participants to discover their unique talents and leverage them to become more effective leaders. From Relator to Achiever, Ideation to Strategic and Maximizer, each leader's unique blend of strengths offers a powerful tool for driving success. By understanding and embracing their strengths, participants gained valuable insights into their leadership style and how to maximise their impact. We also explored the importance of self-awareness in building confidence and authenticity. At our Mindful Tasting session last weekend… Participants observed how their experience reflected the way they typically responded to similar (unfamiliar) situations in their life. They also witnessed how their current topmost priorities in life contributed to shaping their experience. Every experience is an opportunity to learn about ourselves. That’s the idea behind “conscious experiences”. Every experience can be conscious, shedding light on the way we relate to ourselves and to life. Where should an organisation start the GenAI journey in HR? At last Friday’s #Amcham session with HR leaders, we explored essential considerations for integrating #GenAI into the H2R journey: A. Art of the Possible Sessions- Organizations are utilizing structured sessions to identify the optimal blend of RPA, AI/GenAI, and human interactions. This approach aligns with the existing tech landscape and the organization’s experimental appetite to drive efficiency and outcomes B. Data and Model Development- The journey with data and models requires time and cultural adaptation. Building an understanding of initial ‘imperfections’ is crucial, as even machines can make mistakes C. During the course of a coaching session, an experienced leader once asked me, “I am so accomplished and successful professionally, write and articulate so well, dress impeccably and invest a lot in helping others. However, I have realised that people around me don’t interact with me much, tend to keep away, or are stiff and self conscious whenever they talk to me. I think I am not a monster. Whereas, some of my colleagues are more blessed as people gel well with them and interact often. Why? Am I missing something?” The coaching session went on for next hour and a half. To cut the long story short, by the time we finished he himself realised the issue. In his words he said, “I know what’s the problem. The problem is that I give an impression to others that I am too perfect to relate with them. They need a human they endear and not fear”. “A human who can be endeared and not feared.” Yes, I have seen managers who appear to be so perfect that they actually misconnect. In 2020, after having done biography analysis of several people in 1-1 and group settings, I had the intuition to flip the approach to start from here and now, for effective integration of biography work in my coaching and mentoring practice. I was also inspired by my experiences of biography analysis of APJ Abdul Kalam, who lived for nearly 84 years, that is 12 septennials, to extend the chart for 84+ years building on the excellent work done by my trainer and friend, Karl-Heinz Finke. LiFE Metamorphosis was the program that I offered 2019 and beyond, with LiFE being the short form of ‘Living From Essence’. We see ourselves as the elves (as in elves and the shoemaker and Santa’s elves behind the scenes supporting the ‘big guys’ to do what they do best and for them to be known for it). It helps to sparkle some wonderment and magic too. Our first clients were the government of an Asian country (not Singapore - and they were the senior management) wanting a mentoring programme and the next client was a very well known industry leader in the oil and gas industry. And no, it wasn’t because of my name. Not many know of this story. ELF Coaching specifically because we wanted to be different from consulting companies out there as the main and critical impact of our work is we listen, we partner, we deliver in honor of our clients to be sustainable without us. Now ‘almost’ 15 years later we have stuck true to our vision with close friends still not knowing exactly what we do and who we do it with. Some of you had a sneak preview. There’s magic in confidentiality and keeping confidence of who we work with - much against the idea of gaining new business - who usually ask us why we don’t share as much as we do about who we work with. In 2016 we launched a new arm to equip leaders with Systems Inspires leadership and coaching skills for relationships and team. - CRR APAC Our ideology is simple: Most don’t want to share that they want us but will know how to seek us when they need us. So if our work is good, our clients will share about us by word of mouth and that’s the best vote of confidence. Open Dialogue for Internal Processes Enhancement! Encouraging conversations around internal processes is crucial for any organisation aiming to improve efficiency and collaboration. These discussions, though sometimes uncomfortable, create opportunities for team members to voice concerns, share experiences, and identify areas for growth. By providing a space where employees feel comfortable addressing operational challenges, organisations can pre-empt misunderstandings and inefficiencies before they escalate. Moreover, these conversations build trust and transparency within teams. This enables clearer communication and smoother workflows. When employees know they are heard, they are more engaged and empowered, and this can lead to a more agile organisation that continuously refines its operations. Regular assessments of internal processes ensure that bottlenecks are removed and innovative solutions can thrive, ultimately supporting sustainable success and growth. I am fortunate to work in one such organisation committed to these open dialogues which set a foundation for continuous improvement for the organisation and me as an employee. How I moved from Passive to Active Engagement, and 3 tips on how you can too!! Last post (link in the comments below), I talked about "Passive Engagement", and here I am sharing my experience about how I took Passive Engagement a step further to Active Engagement. During the same large group facilitation, as I basked in the glory of having brought my participants to the physically and mentally present state, I realized that it wasn't quite enough, if I wanted them to internalize the concepts from the program I had to get them engaged and "Actively Engaged" at that. Active engagement is the golden ticket to successful training. It's not just about delivering information; it's about ensuring participants are active contributors to the learning process. Mastering this art can transform your training sessions! What I did was implement 3 simple tips and I had the whole group (about 65 educators) getting actively engaged in the session: The 3 Tips - 1. Embrace & Adapt Interactive Activities: I peppered my session with 15-20 interactive activities, followed by de-briefing about the activity. De-briefing allowed the participants to voice out, not only what the activity was, but also what they missed out on, what they hit, what they learned from it, and, most importantly where and how can they apply the activity in their respective areas. 2. Facilitate Group Discussions: During the program, I had them break away into smaller groups and discuss the topics and brainstorm on how they can be adapted to suit their environment and course content and to meet their participant requirement. The Brainstorming brought out some funny yet practical ideas and some crazy, but yet again practical ideas. 3. Use Real-World Examples: Throughout the facilitation program, I shared examples from their daily lives, about kitchens, wives, husbands, TV Soap operas, and how the topics correlate to them. It helps if we (as trainers and facilitators) can speak the "language" of our participants. Remember, the goal is to create an environment where learners are not just passive listeners but active contributors. They should be eager to participate, contribute, & share their insights. Looking to Ramp Up Engagement? Active engagement is the secret sauce! Spice up your sessions with interactive activities, lively group-discussions, and make learning relatable with real-world examples. *Bonus*-> Feedback is Key: Don't forget to include feedback sessions. Allow learners to rate their understanding, pose questions, & offer suggestions. This makes them feel valued and provides invaluable insights for future sessions. 🌟 Workshop Success: Blocks, Clarity, and Action! 🌟 On the weekend, I had the pleasure of leading a customised workshop for the incredible practitioners @ Freshwater Wellness Centre organised by the visionary Founder, Claire Brown. Our session, titled "Blocks, Clarity, and Action," focused on addressing and transforming key challenges such as judgement, fear of success, fear of failure, inner critic, and overwhelm. Throughout the workshop, we explored these challenges deeply through the transformative technique of Systemic Constellations and the results were truly inspiring. Participants experienced exciting new insights, with many noting how their challenges began to dissolve and already appeared less daunting.
